Title: Oh god the wait.
Post by: yellowv on January 09, 2009, 03:18:48 AM
Well, just before Christmas I had my dealer put in an order for a ceramic warpig with battle worn black cover to go in the bridge of my Caparison Horus . At the time neither of us realised they were on vacation until the 5th of January until he tried to place the order. Well finally when Tim and crew got back on Monday the order was placed and the wait continues. Hopefully it wont take too long, but I am sure they have a lot of catching up to do. At least I got my Cold Sweat equipped Ibanez a week or so ago to hold me over. Although it is my first BKP experience and has blown me away. So it just makes the wait for the WP worse :( Seriously the tone and harmonics of the CS are like no other pickup I have experienced. It is so tight and articulate. Amazing stuff.

We all feel for you, but I think Tim and the crew deserve a Christmas break.

The CS is awsome isn't it?

I ordered a NB bridge with battle worn black cover, and a CS neck, just before Christmas, too... But , as opposed to you, it's not a problem for me to wait my handmade pickups, since I never tried BKP, I can tolerate my Seymour Duncans for a few days!

I ordered a set of Painkiller 7's right around xmas too, but I knew the crew wouldn't be in until the 5th so I was prepared to wait.

I feel bad for the guys, the must be swamped!

On the plus side, it sounds as though business is booming. Given the 'current economic climate', I think we can all agree that this is a good thing!!

You'll absolutely love the new pickups when you get them in, too!

I'm eagerly anticipating my Abraxas set, too (even though it appears that noone else has a set :?), and I'm already dreaming about the next set I get :D

i'm waiting for a nice load of BKPs... a cold sweat set, a mississipi queen set and an AV warpig bridge... but the thing i'm really starting loosing my patience for is a U.S. Masters hornet performer i bought from a us dealer (it seems noone has got those guitars in europe!) too many days ago. i don't think the guy stole my money because he's got a BIG store (well, if he actually did i think i'll buy a ticket for the USA quite soon), but he's not answering my mails and so i don't know if he already sent it... and even if he did Italian Mail (i wish there's an hell for them) will certainly find a way to bounce it around for at least a month asking me to spend about the whole amount i already paid in non-existent taxes. i live maybe in the worst country of the planet.
and i know it.

yea, thats very true.. i have a NB on order and the thing that tipped it for me was that.. previously SDs could be bought for about £40 from the usa.. but currently, the lowest ive seen them here (since importing is a no no now) is £70-80... £90 for a BK is value for money

They must be totally swamped. My dealer told me he had around $2500 worth of BKP's to put orders in for when they got back to the shop.

:D I received my pickups today!! I placed my order just before Christmas, and since it's a custom order, I think it's pretty short! They look exactly as expected, both BKP etched, battle worn black cover Nailbomb Bridge with silver allen bolts, and a chrome Cold Sweat Neck with black allen bolts. If the sound match the look, it will be crushing!!
thanx Tim, I can't wait to install them! :D

I took a few pics of the pickups yesterday, although I didn't install them in my guitar already!
I'm waiting on new pots (push/pull) and I changed my strings less than one week ago, so I'll install the pickups in a few days, not a big deal! I have to take it easy, anyway! :)

it seems that my pickups chose to arrive the only day i could actually retrieve them, and NOT the day before, that would have been great... so at the moment they're bouncing in a damn postman bag... plus i worked last night - that's why i could have take them at the post office just this morning - and didn't sleep at all.

and it took an hour or so to find a damn place to leave my car

and i've got headache

and a guitar i ordered from the USA is locked at the customs, i will pay it twice considering the ransom, and it will arrive (if it will) in a month or so...
of course a few hours AFTER the only day in a couple of weeks i would have be able to go and finally reclaim it (battered and broken and not insured)

so i'm damn furious.

all is better, now...
took pickups and installed them...
new guitar arrived and it's damn awesome (and intact)

i've got the terrible sense of guilt that inevitably comes after GAS fulfillment, but it'll go soon  :)

when i'll have both the new born and my epi fit with the last BKPs i'm waiting for, well... i'll be ok for a while...

What guitar did you order dheim?

U.S. Masters Hornet Performer, shaped like an SG but feels definitely more like a LePaul... thicker, rounder and much heavier than the SG anyway...
there's a set of Holy Divers en route!

Sexy curves, even better than the SG imho!
how does  the headstock look? It's look like a PRS one, but on this pic it's quite difficult do judge...

the neck is specially beautiful. Rosewood?
And the body? Looks like a nice piece of Mahogany...

That guitar looks killer, just beautiful.

Post by: dheim on January 30, 2009, 03:21:39 PM
yes, the headstock is quite PRSish, but slightly smaller (and of course symmetric)
the sexiest thing is the neck-body joint, actually a perfectly shaped set-in similar to ibanez SA prestige necks... body is made of a thick (and damn heavy  :)) piece of mahoganey, neck is made of "treated" maple and keyboard is in brazilian rosewood... the 3 woods fit together perfectly, they look very homogeneous...

I like the volute.  I'm a bit of a fan of volutes.

And it would be nice and easy to replace those Sperzels with locking ones, should it take your fancy.

if i close my eyes the impression of having a les paul hung to my shoulders is almost perfect... not just weight-wise, balance, neck and "feel" are very les paul oriented... just a bit thinner. it's also much shorter and compact than my SG61. unplugged  it's less "open" and much tighter. stock pickups are decent, and howl in a very strange way under heavy gain... anyway i'm waiting for a set of holy divers...
 :D

actually i like the tuners, i don't think i'll change them with locking ones, but who knows...

me too! i hope i will never let any of my guitars fall on the ground, but they give me an impression of sturdiness...
