WezV has made me a lap steel which I picked up at Christmas. I see that they are becoming more popular and they are great fun to make a noise on, though a bit harder to actually play well! This web site gives you lots of tuning and playing tips and is great for anyone thinking of getting one http://www.well.com/~wellvis/steel.html (http://www.well.com/~wellvis/steel.html).
It is resting next to my WezV SG and leaning against my Ceriatone JTM 18/45 (18w TMB/EF86 preamp, JTM 45 power amp), with a Scumback M75 LHDC in the Matamp cab and a Celestion Sidewinder in the Ear Candy cab.

I think we needs clips ;)
I have always seen lap steels as a fun way to use up spare/inferior wood but after the way this one ended up i am coming round to them as serious instruments in their own right.
anyone can build one though, here are some pointers:

If space invadors can play guitar, then I bet that's what they play :D

Beautiful fretboard on the SG!I would love to play the lap-steel the way Gilmour plays it.. :)

Have you notice it was made with Belgian chocolate biscuits box :) That's why it sounds so good:you have to eat all the biscuits first  Inspiring,of course!

tbh you could completely forgo the biscuit tin and screw a pickup straight to the plank... loads of fun
