Title: Welcome to the Jungle, bridge Mule
Post by: _tom_ on January 17, 2009, 05:07:09 PM
Got bored today so decided to record this. I have a recording of the original track minus the guitar bits (except the ones under the solo) which makes for a great backing track :)

Dunno what the mix is like, what do you reckon. Had to use Amplitube 2 for this as I'm at uni again :(

So all the guitars under the vocal are yours? And I assume the lead parts are? (I'm not that familiar with the original recording...)

If so - nice one as usual :D

Yeah all the guitars in it are mine except the ones under the lead parts, and those in the breakdown bit before the final chorus.

Sounds awesome man. How did you record it? LP into Laney miced with an SM57?

Guitars could do with coming up in the mix in the intro would be my only gripe.

Cheers :) I've uploaded a version with the delayed intro on but its really hard to get right. Same link as before

Sam I used my LP into an Edirol UA-25ex interface then into an Amplitube 2 JCM800 style model.

edit - updated again, I learned most of the main solo properly instead of semi improvising :)

No I mean it good playing very good. Recording is not much better. just some notes in the solo weren't the exact ones that they played. However I like change and one of the things I like about that song (my GNR Fav) is that it has some nice jamming potential and you did well with that, and most of all you are showing us how nifty the MULE is

Very well done tom!

I could never get a good sound out of Amplitube, but then again i've quite often tried with cr@p guitars with cr@p pickups... soon we'll see...

Cheers :)

I think its more in the interface, I always got pretty bad sounds until I got an interface and it started to sound better from there on :)

Where did you get the track from?
I'd love to get my hands on really good GNR backing tracks.
It would be so cool on my home rig.

Brilliant mate - I love the sound of a JCM800 cranked - even though it's Amplitube 2 (which is awesome btw)

cheers :) I dont know if I'll ever get the chance to have a JCM800, I never get to crank my Laney as it is at the minute :( I'm probably buying a Blackstar HT5 off someone on HC soon though so I can get tube tone at more reasonable volumes, from what I've heard :)
