Title: Holydiver Vs Mule (neck pup)
Post by: kevinr on January 20, 2009, 04:16:00 AM
My second set of BKPs arrived today, this time I have a set of Holydivers  to be fitted to an Eggle Berlin std, (the Mules are fitted to a Berlin also) there are quite a lot of reports on the Holydiver bridge, however there is little on the neck pup! as it will be a while until the HDs are fitted I think I know what to expect of the bridge pup, however the neck has me guessing! I would be gratefull for any reports that anyone has regarding HD vs Mule neck pup.
Cheers

Can't compare with Mules (as I've never had Mules) but I have the HD neck in 2 guitars.  IMO it's the best neck clean sound I've ever heard, probably my favourite neck pickup.

This is what Tim had to say when I was thinking of first buying it a few years ago:
"DC7.8K alnico V, it's very clean and clear, a very precise tone. In comparison to a VHII it's not as warm and not quite so powerful."

If it's any help, have a listen to my neck shootout clips: HD/CS/NB/VHII/MM/PK Clean (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11927.0), HD/CS lead (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11952.0), NB/VHII/MM lead (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=12572.0)

Hope you get them fitted soon - a long wait would drive me up the wall :)  The HD is a great pickup set!

It got the better of me,so, I wired them in ( not the guitar that they are intended for) You are correct Antag the neck pup is really big, bright and clean, a great sound. At first I was not sure about the bridge pup! after an hour or so today I can now say that it does what I had hoped it would, much has been said about it so I wont waffle on. :D
