At the minute im taking the signal from my guitar into a muff then using only short patch cables as follows;
muff - preamp - boss ge7 - marshall vibrotrem - poweramp
I am looking at buying more pedals but there is no space on top of my amp!!
Its a HT5 so there is only tiny amount of space.
So I would like to put them on the floor. However I dont want to have three ten foot cables + short cables between effects + power bank cable etc. However I dont really want to spend loads on anything to fancy.
would putting it on the floor with lots of long cables, (probably die-hards or similar, not planet waves though) mean lossy signal?
Whats best for this situation? Accommidate for loss of signal wirth ge7?

There are two issues here really;
1. The longer the distance between your guitar and the amp the greater the loss of top end or clarity (i.e. cables pedals etc.) (buffered pedals can solve this problem)
2. The more non-true bypass pedals you put in your chain the more your original signal will be affected as the majority of NTB pedals are buffered eq'ed then buffered again .
A good guide is to use mainly true bypass pedals with one or two NTB as these will buffer the signal and stop the loss of top end.
However to be honest with your set up i cant see that adding an extra couple of foot of cable will make that much of a difference, but theres only one way to find out!

Ah bum I meant to write a couple of "ten" foot cable to run in and out of the effects loop.
Could I use a treble booster or line driver at the end or can you get some kind of buffer that you can put before the pre-amp.

I am running a number of effects pedals, all of them discrete into two Lehle D.Loops. Ultimately, the whole shebang will be residing in a rack case kept next to my amp. Guitar lead and MIDI cable are the only runs longer than a foot. This dramatically increases the transparency of my rig's sound.

I use 4 x 20' planet waves cables in my rig without any problems, 2 in the front and 2 in the loop and I'm happy enough.

Don't worry about the loss from long cables. Everything seems to be buffered in your chain, unless the muff is true bypass. The very first pedal should be NOT true bypass.
You still need to use quality cables of course.

Ok then. It seems that the vibrotrem and the muff are true bypass but the boss ge7 pedal isnt. I get some leads and just use the Ge-7 if i need to! Cheers for the replies.
