Guys, any recommendations for patch leads that I can make up for my pedalboard?
Mark.
-
I'd suggest have a look at the Cleartone site www.award-session.com they do short cables to order.
-
^+1 I have a few of their patch cables and 2 of their long leads and they're all brilliant.
-
+1 on cleartones :D
-
www.johnnyshredfreak.com has some decent looking patch cables with neutrik connectors, cheap too! i havent used em but they look solid enough!
-
Either of the above - I've used both and they're fine. Cleartone have an adavantage if you need funny lengths.
-
George L's are good. Small, take up hardly any room, cut to whatever length you need. Mine have been reliable for the last 2 years.
-
The custom planet waves cables are great from my experience, if a little chunky. I believe that they do a similar kit to the george L's as well.
-
Best I ever had was a DiMarzio braided wire, but expensive and chunky.
I got one of these sets from Lavacables and it ws nice!

Got the Cleartone patch leads, including a custom 90cm length, and plumbed it all in the morning.
They really DO seem to make a tonal difference - everything just seems clearer. Maybe it's just my imagination though...
-
Maybe not your imagination- I had the same thought too.
-
yeah, it's not your imagination.
-
Yet another vote for Cleartones. I play low volume and deliberately exploit every nuance of string / pick - and the Cleartones really did stand out by making this possible.
They can turn out expensive though - as they make you give your other leads away , buy a pair of B.K.P. Manhattans and an agate pick .
-
+1 for cleartone. Got several of them great purchase.
-
+1million for Cleartone :D
-
I wholeheartedly agree with cleartones - !!!!
-
I think this forum needs an automated response saying cleartone for any thread with cables involved :D , i would like to get some but the exchange rate makes them really pricy once i get a few patch leads and long leads and speaker leads. And then postage on top of that.
-
The cleartones do seem nice, but they are a bit hard to come by here in the Netherlands.. :(
Any thoughts on the short patchcables by Spectraflex?
I'm very happy with my spectraflex instrument cable! :D Mainly because it can withstand constant mis-use

How about DIY?
I'm not sure how feasible it is in the UK but over here I can get guitar cable (highly respected Mogami 2524 for instance) for about £1.20 per metre, and jacks are about 80p, so thats 5 decent 20cm patch leads for just under a tenner.

I like Lava, also. Dunno how it compares to Cleartone, price-wise.

I have been through many many planet waves...i don't recommend them.
Die hard has lasted me ages and feels solid as...
I also have a fender cable which feels and looks the business.

Hmm I was just considering them a good alternative, what was wrong with them?
The problem I have with most solderless cables is that the cable is compromised to facilitate the solderless connectors.. so it's handy but never the better choice sound-wise.
