Title: Decent Bare Knuckles for a Gibson SG?
Post by: Jagw667 on October 07, 2005, 10:43:29 PM
Hey all, i'm looking to upgrade the pickups in my SG and have been recommended to look at Bare Knuckles... Having no experience in hearing any of these pickups in action, could someone recommend a decent setup for both Neck and bridge in an SG for someone who likes playing a lot of hard rock/metal style.

Cheers.

The Riff raff set sounds awesome in an SG, it’s very clear but its got allot of attitude and a nice aggressive edge to it. If you wanted to go hotter the Nailbomb or Crawler would also serve you well.

Installed a calibrated set of Riff Raffs in my '61 SG reissue last week. Fantastic - very clear sound but get punchy when you wind them up. Not as high output as the Crawlers I've got on my Les Paul but really suite the SG. Both sets have got that special ability to sound articulate whatever volume you are playing at.

Funnily enough, I'm waiting for a set of Crawlers for my 70's Ibanez Iceman. How is this related to an SG? The body is a 2 piece slab of mahogany.  :D
