Does anybody have any experience of this speaker?
Any good?

I have them in my Laney 2x12, they are pretty bog standard speakers, good for clean and mild overdrive, but once you crank the gain up they lack something. I was going to upgrade to V30's but i can never be arsed to take them out and install new ones haha.

I have the same cab / speakers as Crazy Joe, and for cleans ( which are all I used them for ) - they where nice. If anything a little on the bright and clear side, so compared to the Jensen C12Ns , Emminence Fender Specials - and even the mighty EVM12L Classics - they where nice and articulate at lower volumes ( which I needed ). In sound, much closer to The Jensen C12N which I chose for clarity anyway - and definately not as dark as the Emminence or EVM12Ls. In fairness to the later two speakers, they were being run at a tiny fraction of their capacity, so the cones where not even getting a chance to 'stretch their legs'.
I put the Seventy80s back in the cab after experimentation, for as a clear and general purpose extension cab ( if ever needed ) - they fit the bill just fine. For the price, they work well enough - and it did not seem worth putting much more expensive speaker drivers in a cab that was just fine as it was.
Of course I do prefer The Fenderish / clear sounds anyway - and did not use high gain ( or any gain ) through them. Just pleasant speakers for the cash - with a refreshing lift in the upper mids and top, without being harsh.
Well chosen for a solid , general purpose , affordable cab.
The only thing I would mention, is that if having to dictate the speaker choice / starting from new, I would have marginaly prefered the Celestion 'Hot 100s' ( that Twinfan introduced me to ) as better all rounders for low price - namely because the 'Hot 100' are even more neutral sounding - without that 'lift' in the upper mids and top , and my ears seem to like a relatively neutral speaker these days . :)

Okay thanks for the advise.
I'm also wandering what would be a good upgrade for this speaker. i.e. if money was no object?
I have one in my Laney and as I've not tried it elsewhere I can't isolate its sound. So if I was to upgrade what would be the logical choice for nice cleans to classic crunch?
I'm looking for a speaker that when I get rid of the amp can come with me so basically a great speaker for an open backed combo for shimmering fender cleans and sweet break up. Nice and bright ( sweet highs ) and well defined bass.

I wasn't a great fan of the 70/80's in a closed back cab. Here's a speaker comparison clip I did a while ago - all the same riff, first a G12M greenback, then the 70/80, then a Scumback H75 (pre-Rola G12H-30 clone) :-

double post :?

nice clip, almost makes me want to place an order for a Scumback!

It's true, the H75's are awesome speakers.

I've tried the seventy80 with three great amps, a jcm800, a plexi and the laney lionheart... and they made all of them sound rubbish.
A quick change to greenbacks and walla, back to tone land.
Worst speakers ever conceived... made the plexi sound like a pod.
