To mount my rack mount stuff in? (!)
I have more bits planned and dont want to just keep stacking them!
-
what sort?? a studio one? an ABS moulded plastic one? a wooden flight case style one? most places like gak sell them.
-
How big a rack do you need
I have a couple going spare
One of them is a full aluminium jobbie with front and back removable covers
-
Search for '6u flightcase' (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6U-Pro-19-Rack-Flight-Case-Strong-but-Light-New_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1700Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem120241219461QQitemZ120241219461QQptZUKQ5fMusicalQ5fInstrumentsQ5fRackQ5fCasesQ5fMJQQsalenotsupported), or however many U you need the case to be... the sizes tend to be 3, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16... obviously there are some exceptions (from custom jobbies), but they're the main ones.

im looking for a 4u or 6u case... how deep is it?
-
When I had a rack, I got mine from
www.gak.co.uk
-
Hmm, only need 3 spaces at the mo, so 6 is fine.
Just some big dumb block to put stuff in for my studio.
Send me a PM of your stuff (or post it up, whatever you want), feline, I'm interested!

If you fancy making your own box, I'm 99% sure that you can just buy the rails. Can't remember where I've seen them, but I'm sure that I have.
-
You'll probably get rails, locknuts & stuff for computery places too as servers tend to be mounted in 19" racks too.
-
yea ive got some spare rails i was going to put in a 4u case i have.. but the holes lined up with the metal on the case so i couldnt screw thru the wood to secure them...
i could build a case.. but im not massively good at wood work

I've got a couple of SKB cases. Got mine from Thomann (http://www.thomann.de/gb/search_dir.html?sw=&gk=CARA19&bn=SKB&vf=on&x=5&y=7) (even with the £ having tanked against the € the prices are still OK...)
