The Floyd on my new Maverick seems to be playing up a bit. when i 'dive' with it and then return it to its normal position it seems to knock the tuning down about a 1/4 step. If i then pull the bar up and release it, it goes back to normal tuning. I guess its someting to do with the tension on the springs, but what should i adjust??

Check the knife edges to make sure there's no damage on them, and you can also put some lubrication (chapstick is good) on the post where the knife edge sits.

Yeah, it sounds like it's sticking somewhere at the fulcrum points. Shouldn't be anything to do with the springs.

Bingo!! Cheers guys, a little bit of Chapstick did the job!!! :D

What gauge of strings are you using?
If you are using pretty light strings a problem that can occur is that the trem is using 3 springs but they are not really under any great tension at the neutral balance point for the fulcrum trem.
I have often removed the middle spring (if there are 3) and increased the tension via the two adjustment screws holding the spring claw, so that at the neutral point the springs are nicely stretched.
This seems to stop the trem from having problems returning to zero each time
Checking the knife edges and lubing them is good too!

It was 10's, but i have now changed it down to 9's(cos im a southern nancy!!) I may try your trick with removing the middle spring-i'll see how it goes.
Thanks for all your replies :D
