Anyone know of some good shops to go to, to get coloured wood dyes? I tried Homebase and Wickes, but they only had the typical dyes used for doors, decking etc
I'm sanding my Warmoth's body down to the wood tomorrow (lots of deep sratches in the finish, looks ugly) and think I'm going to dye the Swamp Ash red.

if you have an old style hardware shop near you you never know what you might find... i used to get all my finishes supplies from one across the road, now its a chippy - which i visited for dinner tonight so i cant complain
this stuff from axminster is good and their delivery is quick

spend a long time sanding through the grits if doing a direct stain, also watch out for it soaking into the end grain more.. it can be tricky to get right

What about the proper NitroCellulose Stuff?

I would do, but I'm a little worried about using Nitro because it's quite toxic.
My plan was to sand the finish down to the wood, stain it, then rub tung oil over the entire body leaving a 'satin' type of finish. I've done this to my Strat's neck and the Warmoth's neck (minus the dye and used boiled linseed oil) and love the feel of it

If you've got any scr@p left, then obviously have a practice on that first.
