ok due to size/weight issues im going to have to buy a 2x12 cab to go with either a marshall dsl or peavey 6505....
so i was wondering which cab would you recomend for either of these.....?
i want the power to handle these heads, a matching size for the heads, FAT low end n cutting punchy mids n searing treble..... i.e. METAL .... ultimately i want something thats going to give me a full fat sound in a 2x12 form... any ideas?
also what speakers? (obv would be cool if the cabs had those speakers in them ;) ) ... g12t75's? hot 100's? v30s? any eminence?
p.s. tight budget sp cheaper the better as i have to justify spending the cash ;)
cheers :)

Hot-100s are great for what you want, and I think Roo likes the G12K-100s too?
You need a nice chunky cab to handle the power and give a good tone - Orange / Matamp / Martamp / Mesa / Bogner would get my vote.

In the UK, the Orange 2x12 probably best meets your needs as a cab - but you might not particularly get on with the V30's loaded in it. Some guys seem to love V30's for metal, some don't.
Roobubba swears by his G12K-100's for his down-tuned metal. I had a G12K-100 in a 1x12 a while back, and was very impressed with it - a very balanced and solid speaker, able to take some real punishment and a lot of wattage, also with a great bottom end.
So, in summary, I'd get an Orange 2x12 - sell the V30's in it, and replace with G12K-100's.

hot-100's are very nice...have them mixed with 2 other celestions in my matamp 4x12.
The vintage 30 in my 2x12 is great but again good mixed...not so good for me at low volumes

I'd go for either:
1. Cornford 2 x 12
2. Orange 2 x 12
3. Matamp 2 x 12
or from what I've read on here
4. A MartAmp...
In all cases I'd look for second hand as there are many cabs out there that hardly get used other than in a bedroom!
Good luck with your search.

I'm very interested by the prospect of a G12K-100 mixed with a Hot-100. Both insanely cheap for what you get (both are great speakers!!). I haven't tried it, so don't know how well they'd pair up, but I am in general a fan of mixing speakers in any cab to increase the depth and breadth of the sound. BUT - some speakers simply don't pair up well!
If you can find out if anyone has done it and how it sounds compared to the 2 x G12K-100s or 2x Hot100s, then you might reasonably go for it yourself, if not, then stick with G12Ks :) They are simply beautiful for downtuned, heavy music, oh and they also sound fantastic clean! :)

I have that exact combo in my self build 2x12!

I swear by K100s aswell, they sound incredible every time I've played through them, and some of the orange cabs come with them installed last time I checked... Deffo go for that combo imo.

I'll put in a vote for Orange cabs, I have a standard Orange 4x12 (v30's) and it's built like a tank. Available in black and orange, looks good in both :)
I must admit I'm tempted to play with the speakers one day when I have a bit of cash. (could be a while)

Since I prefer front-loaded cabs my favorite is the VHT and Diezel stuff. Orange and Cornford make nice ones too.
-
Diezel are just so expensive. Their 4x12 with v30's is twice the price I paid for my Orange, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to get for my extra 100%.
-
Im not sure where you are based but there is a matamp 2x12 on ebay at the moment. Someone from Barnsley selling it. Looks nice cab for the money.

I think Diezel cabs are very tuned to their amps

Bogner 2x12!!!! It's loaded with V30s and it sounds as fat and big as a 4x12! I have never heard an amp that didn't sound better after played through this cab!
