I've just got a surprise birthday present from my wife. The 62 MIJ Tele . I want to change the pups to good all rounders. The Silo/Tele has SD 54 bridge and Fender 52 neck pups. I want to change the standard pups which are O.K. for something better . Any suggestions would be welcome. (http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii98/marantz1300/100_0739.jpg)

My only suggestion is to convince your wife to start a "Wife School" so that we can all enroll ours.
As for the pickups, then I haven't the foggiest, but someone will probably help you out shortly (let's hope it's not Roo :D)

As he's new here, I'm going to hold my opinions back, other than to suggest perhaps a small fire, or a frenzied brick-throwing session. Should do the trick with that Tele. :)

It'll relic with time ,or do you not like Tele's? Its much too pretty to do what your suggesting. Its CAR ,but hard to catch with the flash. (http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii98/marantz1300/100_0724.jpg)

Just ignore Roo, he's a Philistine. I like the Silo-Tele! :D
I don't actually own any BKP Tele pickups, but the 1950 Flat Pole Blackguard set seems to be the current popular choice for vintage-style all-rounders.
There's also the Country Boy set, but I think an appropriate choice for a '60s style Custom might be the Yardbirds. :)

Philly has come up with the same goods as I will...
I have two sets of Flat 50s Blackguards - I can highly recommend them. I'm using them for blues and all round tele-ness in a Baja tele and a CIJ 52 re-issue.
But, if I ever give in to temptation and get one of those 62s, Yardbirds would be the first ones I'd look at, with Country Boys as a close runner up.
I can't see the pic at work - what colour is your 62? I have to restrain myself every time I see a black one in the flesh. Several months ago I tried one, wife convinced me to buy it over night, and when I went back the next day it was gone :(
I've seen them since, but in the meantime I got the CIJ 52 second hand, and I really can't justify another tele in the house at the moment...
Anyway, welcome to the Roo wind-up club, sorry, forum :D

Its candy apple red. It was the only 62 in the shop . I was playing it while my wife was shopping and pointed it out when we passed the shop on the wat to the car, The build quality is better then the MIA and MIM tele's that I've owned. The neck is sublime, very close to my Blueburst Silo. It was a BiG surprise to come home and have this waiting for me a few days later. She's a great wife.

I have the same model Tele (same colour and everything). The neck hss almost exactly the same feel and dimensions as my real 62 tele (though it has a lot more lacquer!). Depending on what sound you want, I would go with the Yardbird set. They sound almost the same as the real 62 pickups. Blackguards will give you a little thicker sound.

I can see it now I'm home - nice one :D
And I have almost the same story on a CIJ 62 re-issue strat - aren't wives wonderful? (Or my second one is, anyway )
