Title: Mule Bowed inward?
Post by: Dubn 57 Goldtop on February 26, 2009, 05:37:07 PM
Hey guys, I was just curious if any of your guys' neck pickups are bowed? It's an uncovered pup, and bows inward. The outsides of the pickup are about a centimeter above pickup rings, so the middle of the pickup (D and G) is level with the plastic, and furthest away from strings.. Shouldn't the pickup be flat and level all the way across? Thanks

I think you will find its the pickup ring that is bent onto an archtop rather than the pickup being bowed. Get yourself a straight edge (i.e a ruler) and double check. if not that is one weird pickup.

Could you take a picture of it?

where's the smacks himself on the forehead smiley? DOH!! Definitely the arched ring. I should probably cut down on the drinking lol. Thanks fellas

EDIT: tho after looking at sharp angles, it does appear to be bowed somewhat lol. and the slug and screw side pieces are not level. class right now, I'll get pictures this evening

The bobbins can bow a little bit, I think it happens when the pickups are potted as the heat can bend the plastic.  Nowt to worry about  :)
