Im having big problems deciding :P im getting a set of calibrated nailbombs
im thinking of battle worn black, normal black, nickel, or maby chrome? Is there any other good options?

I'm going to be unhelpful and say you might have trouble squeezing covered pickups into those routings.
I'd stick with uncovered black - or maybe zebra.
-
Look up 'Burnt Chrome ' in the main B.K.P Gallery, flarings of blue across the surface. Philly has a very good point about checking that they would fit though ... :)

do you maby got some measurements of the covered versions? its a bit more space than it looks like on that picture
-
I don't know specific measurements, but the covers are big enough to go over the baseplate, so they make the whole pickup a bit bigger.
And with those direct-mounted pickups they usually make the hole quite tight so the pickup can't move around.
I'm not trying to put you off getting covers, just something to think about - you might need to do a little routing.
-
Perhaps cream...
The black battle worn will look cool...
-
Black cover with double row of black allens i think. 8)
Make sure to specify the triangular tabs, shorter polepieces, and a low profile design for Ibanez's shallow routing!
-
here you see how much space there is, think it would fit if i tell them its for this guitar?

definitely burnt chrome! :D :D :D :D
-
A covered Nailbomb would not fit into the direct mount route on my Ibby which should have the same size route as your RGA.

Sounds promising...

Then again, maybe not.
It's up to you. Looking at the picture, I think covers would be a very tight fit, if they fit at all. I had to slightly rout the cavity on my SG to get my Riff Raff to fit, and I'm not 100% sure my covered CS set is going to fit in my PRS.

Yeah I was talking in terms of depth. I don't have covered pickups in any of my Ibanez's so I can't help there. I just know when I fitted the Painkiller set in my 7 string RG I had to grind the pole pieces a mm or two. They were even longer than the (short)legs. I know it wasn't a good idea and the pickups should have been sent back for different pole pieces but I couldn't wait. I also had to bend out the legs to line up with the previous holes because I didn't feel like drilling new ones. But they're fitted and everything works and sounds great!

As some other lads already said, burnt chrome, will look awesome on blue guitars IMO.
-
First i have to say, that is one GORGEOUS ibanez!
I personally wouldn't be putting covers on it, but burnt chrome would look sweet, as would just chrome to match the bridge.

yea its my dream guitar :D it plays like a hot chick on a sunny beach in the carribean. And sounds amazing even though the stock pickups are only decent. SO cant wait to get some BKPs in it.
btw do anyone know if they could do "custom" uncovered? Like all black, with black screws etc.

Not sure if you can get black screws, but you can certainly get black allen poles.
No fancy coloured bobbins, though, just combinations of black, cream and white. And purple - but that's only available in 50mm spacing, I think.

Is it that much a dealbreaker? As Tim pointed out to me, you don't hear many people complaining that EVH's tone would have been better if his pickups were F-spaced.
-
Fair point Nolly, I'll have to choose my pickups first though (thread coming soon!)

Wicked :)
To contribute to the thread, I think chrome to match the hardware would be a very classy look.
-
said it before, say it again.. the only covers/hardware color to go with transparent blue is CHROME! all black works, but chrome is the better option
-
anyone who got covered pickups who can measure them? The routing on my guitar is 3,9 cm and 7 cm , so i need pickups that arent bigger than that

Well, that's what Tim told me when I ordered the purple/black Crawlers for my Edwards. The situation may have changed.

I just measured my Cold Sweat and it's exactly 3.95 by 7.00 cm, at the widest parts. But they're going to vary ever so slightly. You might just about squeeze it in, but expect to take off a bit of paint in the process!
-
i have asked tim now and he said it should fit if they made triangular mounting, so now i just gotta decide on which cover :D im thinking chrome now to match the bridge
-
Tim should make chrome the only option.

Is that because he's so rock'n'roll? Or because he's a fat b@stard?
