So, im soon getting the Feline Gothic Warpig setup for C tuning (NOT drop C), it has a 25" scale and i wouldnt mind wide bends and wide vibratos to be quite easy, but dont want no spaghetti strings, so kind of like a 24.75 in standard with 10-46, around that ballpark. What do you think?

I used to use a 7 string set, and take the middle one out, so it was something like 52, 42, 32, 17, 13, 9 or something like that, may have been 10s on the top 3. Felt great because the bottom strings had enough tension (not silly tight, not a fan of that), but the upper strings had plenty of bendability :) Maybe see if you can get a 10-48 set, that sounds like it could be good for you :)

My band tunes to C, so perhaps I can be of some help. I use a custom set from LaBella that are .056 - .012 with a plain 3rd.
When I'm in Standard tuning (my "sit home and play" guitars) I use .048 - .10 so this is the feel that I'm most comfortable with, and find that the gauges I use in C get me very close to that feel. The high end feels perhaps a bit looser in terms of tension.
My rhythm guitarist uses D'Addario strings gauged .056 - .013 with a wound third, as he has less need for increased playability on the top end.

Oli, sorry, but i think that will be way to floppy :? Marky, i think that could be good, since Ernie Ball havae the Not so slinky set with 12-56 and a plain G string. What scale is your guitar, so that i can get a better idea of the tension:)

No worries, i'm a light gauge fan- perhaps a too light for most :)

I use .11, but I think currently I use 12s cause I go all the way down to drop b, but I would use 11s for C standard

Hm, wouldnt every string exept the B be tighter with drop b tuning than they would with C standard? Or am i confused? Anyway, "11s" and "12s" dont say to much since the heavier strings can be different, theres 11s with 60+ E strings, etc.

Okay, seems im setting for the D'addario 12-54 set. Heard horrible things about the all too thick 0.24 gauge g string on the Not so slinky set since its unwound, besides i bend the g string alot, and i think the D'addario 12-54 will be fine, i remember Jonathan at Felineguitars recommending those gauges for C tuning when i was buying the guitar and some other guy recommended these also, so thanks for your help, i think im asking to many questions around here lately, hope i dont piss to many people off:)

Yes, the .024 unwound G in the Not-so-slinky set is hideous, stay away from it :)
I currently use Skull Strings .011-.058 in drop-C on my 25,5" guitars, which gives me a similar feel than .009s in standard tuning, pretty much. But, I prefer a bit tighter feel (I use .010-.052 in standard) so I just bought the D'Addario .012-.054 set with an extra .059 for the low C, let's see.
.056 is too loose for my tastes for the low C, so .054" would be even more so, but it's all a matter of preference, naturally :)

Im going with the D'addario set, 12-54 after recommendations and i can always do a thicker set if id need to, but i cant go from a thicker set to a thinner since nut slots might have to be filed up etc.

Well, you can always replace the nut ;) But yeah. My new PRS doesn't even take a .052 for the low E without filing the nut.

Yeah, but unnecessary when i can just go up a gauge if i need it bigger, so, these are the ones that will go on the guitar. (http://www.ballewsmusic.com/v/vspfiles/photos/dadexl145-2.gif)

If they don't work out for you then I'd suggest making up your own set. It's not much more expensive than ready sets.
I have a 60 on my Flying V (tuned to C# though), anything lighter or heavier feels a little odd.

Both my Parkers (a classic and a mojo, 25.5 scale) are in C, I use the D'addario 0.10s seven string pack and throw away the high E, so you get 59-13.
Anything less and I feel like that low C is just flapping about all over the place.

Wow, that makes it sound like id have some real slackers, but im still trying the 12-54. People also have REALLY different ideas of what feels good and not.

Yeah, and as you said, you can always go up a notch easily :)

Absolutely, and it's worth saying that if I'm playing metal I do pick pretty damn hard, and I'm mostly plaing extremely fast music, when high tension is key, for me at least.

If you want the strings a bit tighter, D'Addario do a Jazz set (EJ22) medium Jazz strings which are very similar to "standard" 9 sets, but in 13s. Quite even tension across all the strings.
Which reminds me, need to whack on a new set of 13s or 14s on my baritone :)

Both Criss Oliva and Tony Iommi used those when tuned down to C, and they sounded excellent, worth a look in I reckon.
Gauge wise, I'd rock up 13-56 anyday!
