I just love my Edwards Paul since I went to those Nickel .10-50 strings.
Here's another clip with a quite heavily pushed JTM45 in the Axe: http://www.klangforschungszentrum.de/temp/el_axo_imigranto.mp3

Hmmm. Doesn't sound like a JTM45 to me. But it sounds good!

I KNEW you would reply Dave. And I KNEW you wouldn't approve of the 45er LOL
But anyways, I never played a real JTM, so what do I know :O)
I also like the tone as it is and so thanks very much for the positive feedback, real 45 or not!

wow, really nice tone there :o

Ha ha - I'm too predictable!
Well I play JTM45-type amps all the time and they're much warmer than that. I thought the sound you got was somwhere inbetween a JTM45 and a Plexi.
Who cares what it's called though, it sounds good - very Led Zep :)

It's a good tone but I have to say I still prefer the ones you got with your Bogner and Vintage Modern :)

Hm yeah, more direct I guess. Stupidly also I recorded with reverb which I should've switched off to get more of a direct tone. And then in direct comparison the VM version had less gain and more presence: http://www.thegutbusters.com/temp/emigranto.mp3 (this was the Marshall)

That sound way nicier :D

Yep - I agree. I guess the flexibility of the AXE is good for you Hunter? Beats carrying a bunch of amps around!
I just can't get into this modelling thing personally...

Yeah, I love my Axe, love to try new/different amp models and how they respond, and I love to change from a clean tone with delay and phaser to an overdriven lead with reverb and wah and higher volume with one switch of a button.
Also there were always compromises to have a great clean and or great clean with hair and or great rock tone and or great chugga tone and now I can have them all. Actually when I listen to the 2 clips I am not too excited by the Marshall and prefer the Axe one. Maybe a bit too much gain, and I should have recorded w/out reverb at first.
In the end it's what makes you feel good when you play, and I just feel comfortable and enjoy myself much more with the Axe, being relaxed and focus on the playing more, whereas with amps/pedals it's always a fight to get the balance right.
Clips that I am posting here are just snapshots after all, but the rig I am running right now has really convinced me in terms of flexibility and consistency.

I'd really like to hear an axefx live or even play one. I bet its good through a decent power amp and cab :)

I think one thing that put me off it was Simon Bradley in Guitarist magazine saying how good it was. What does he know about good tone?
However, if Hunter thinks it's good there must be something there that's decent ;)

LOL, yeah Dave, I second the Bradley comment. It's just about not bad enough for me to cancel the subscription. Still my favourite mag, but I do check authors on any reviews and take it with a grain of salt if it's him.
_tom_, I am actually planning to do a trip to UK to visit around guitar shops in the mid/lower east area, and find the "perfect gun" - might actually take my rack for testing, who knows.
Pity that guitar4you is so much up-country ...
-
Hunter, if you fancy coming to Manchester, i can try your axe fx and you can try my Egnater :D ;)

Pity I missed that Manchester meet, but you and Guitars4You might just convince me after all to burn some more rubber and come upcountry ... might be fun to see a bit more of the UK for once ...
I will have plenty of time from in 2 weeks as I am actually out of job now ...
-
If you're coming up to Manchester matey, you'll have to call in on me too ;)
Sorry about the job though :(
-
Yeah well, let's see, it is a bit of a stretch isn't it?
The job? That's been a tough decision, but surely a good one. 8 years is enough, gotta move on to new challenges!
