Title: Warning - tele content (how to look after your collection #2)
Post by: Ian Price on March 03, 2009, 09:29:35 PM
Here is John 5 and his guitar collection. I am very, very envious but respect that he is so into teles and obviously cares for the - pretty much the polar opposite of Malmsteens treatment of guitars:

Indeed! - surprisingly I do like John 5. Les Paul talks very highly of him and he also apparently spent a lot of his time playing with country players.

That's a nice collection. They're all too clean for my liking, I prefer my girls to have seen a bit of life!

He does seem a genuinely pleasant lad, alright.

Fair play to him.

Apart from his obsession with tele's.
i thought they didnt get it right the first time? hence the development of the strat, and the contours.
anyone see that long BBC documentary about the guitar. was pretty ok. obviously a lot of tele content in it.

The tele was originally designed as a studio instrument, not as one to be played live. Which is perhaps why it's dog ugly when you put it next to it's younger, more attractive sister.

John 5 is an awesome guitar player, more people need to hear his stuff outside of his work with Manson and Rob Zombie.

This is the (ex) Mrs 5 (or Mrs Lowery), "actress" and model Aria Giovanni.  I don't know what she thought about his Tele collection:

You just know that he has a nickname for all of them and talks to them when there's no one else around.

I didn't say there was anything wrong, but I felt a bit uneasy when he got that baby blue blanket ready to wrap up his Broadcaster. I was half expecting him to sing a lullabye and kiss it goodnight.

The gorgeous Aria was partnered with John 5 ? !   If that is not the 'gold standard'  of trophy wife, I don't know what is ...  :o

As has already been noted though, he seems pleasant enough - and under the gloss & glam - a genuine chap ; especially having the willingness to expand and appreciate Country players and the classic nature of the humble Telecaster.

I even remember Zakk Wylde recommending that players should " study Albert Lee" .   Nice one !  :)

I oculdn't see the picture of Aria Giovanni, so I put the name into the dogpile image search.  Was a bit shocked to get a load of porn up (only shocked because I was in the office though )  Had to close it down fairly quick (after a good look).

shobet - that's not the first gay joke that has been made about his hat.  Gayer than a handbag full of rainbows  :D

Albert Lee played on my mums album. Apparently, he's boring, and plays the same "flacid dull noodling" on everything no matter what it is; one pass to get the structure and tonality, one pass to lay something down, and everythings the same vibe no matter what the song, and she "wont be hiring him again". From the recordings, I agree. *shrugs* (very nice chap by all acounts though; didnt meet him myself).

John 5 probably got the worst start to his career that he could of with manson. Hes SO much better than that. Much respect to him for earning respect with genuine talent in spite of his silly image.

Ask her, just make sure you put a pile of paper into your wallet before hand and you'll be in like Flynn when she sees the size of the wad you're packing.

I have to admit I'd never heard of this bloke , I assume he must be reasonably successful to be able to afford all this

but what a fine collection of geetars.... :D

Don't you worry, we know Roo is watching, secretly drooling and gassing... He has done sterling work furthering the cause of his favourite guitar, the telecaster, by pretending that he hates and loathes them... almost single-handedly he has converted huge numbers of BKP forumites into telecaster owners - I myself have seen the light and bought three in the past 12 months, all thanks to Roo's superb marketing skills... Leo might not have understood his methods, but he would be proud...

One day the strain will become too much, and he'll "come out of the closet" and reveal his true feelings - it'll be a sad day though, a major BKP Forum "subject for amusement, no matter what the topic" will suddenly disappear overnight :(
