Title: How do you replace SG pickups

If it is the type with a full pickguard. Looks a bit tricky as the bridge goes over the pickguard as well.

The 61 reissue looks easy enough as they have pickup rings.

It's a while since I've done one like that but if I remember correctly, after unscrewing the guard, it lifts off with a little persuasion over the bridge/stop bar mounts.

It depends on the age of the guitar I think.  I had a 60's one and you had to take off the height adjustment washers to get the pickguard off.  It's the same with a Flying V - I changed pickups on one of them last year.

With great care I'd say, it wasn't until I realised what was involved with pickguard mounted pickups that I understood why somepeople had their humbuckers ring mounted inspite of having a pickguard underthem too.
