Title: Anyone tried a Malekko Echo (delay) pedal?

I'm looking to replace my Ibanez AD-9 with something a bit less vintage-y, but I don't want to go digital as they're too harsh sounding.  I want a nice clear analogue delay and these seem to fit the bill.  Anyone tried them????

A lad I teach guitar to had a Malekko Dark for a while.
It was not a subtle pedal, it's a delay with slant if you see what I mean. If you want something that does analogue delay in a classic style I don't think this is it.

Personaly I am not a fan of Delay before distortion and some analogue delays from my experience don't have the headroom to work in loops. That's assuming you are not using pedal distortion.

The BYOC analogue delay loooks/sounds cool to me. Of the digital delays I think the T-rex are awesome.  I think the Homebrew Ananlogue delay was quite cool from what I remember however I think that didn't have good headroom for effects loop.

the malekko is the popular "boutique" pedal out there... one of the best apparently.. just make sure you get the right one, dark or bright.

the guys on the harmony central chim about it all the time.. personally delay is the only thing i quite like to be digital in the main, but i wouldnt mind to have an analogue delay kicking about to use when needs must.

no harshness? Try an electroharmonix Stereo Memory Man with Hazarai.

It has this lovely knob on it called Filter, that changes the treble response to it, so it can sound analogue or digital. Combine that with the Decay knob that softens it as it decays, or leaves it harsh, you have a seriously versatile delay. You can do digital slapback stuff or vintagey soft decays.

Combine that with a modulator (flange and chorus effects?) and a sort of reverby thing going on. PLUS a reverse delay and a looper. You have a fantastic pedal.

I love mine. So much.

Modtone MT-AD is a very good bright-ish analog delay if the YouTube demos are anything to go by. Sounded much better than the MXR Carbon Copy IMO.

They're only available in N.America as far as I can tell, but I've seen them on Ebay for around $100 new.
