He explains the history of rock and amps and demonstrates all of these amps with different settings, styles and volumes. He speaks German, but still worthwhile listening to the tones and checking the settings even if you're not DE speaking:
JTM45
Plexi 50
Plexi 100

Enjoy :)

That was really cool. Loved the gold top!
-
Nice one Hunter - enjoyed that...
... and now you know what a JTM45 sounds like  (and so do I... I've been watching Twinfan dissing your AxeFX's model, and worrying that my Vox Tonelab was way off too... I'm happy that the way I'm using it it's not that far away now)
On the 100w plexi - was he explaining that he had a PA model there, or something?

Yeah it's a PA model, hence the additional inputs and preamp tubes, which he modified for a more meaty and gainy extra channel.

Just watched the first clip - great sounding JTM45. A clone or modern reissue by the look of it. Any idea who made it?

He has a great collection, they are all originals I believe.
Well if you would speak German you would have understood that in fact the sound of the Camera came from an Axe FX ;)

There's no way that JTM45 is an original. The box is mint, the panels are new, it has the correct mains adapter, fuse holders are new etc etc.
The other two are old though ;)
Can you imagine how loud that 100watter was in the room? :o

I was thinking that while I was watching it  - and he was just sat right next to it...

Yeah, I think more than anything else it requires a lot of confidence to play at that kind of volume.

No chance. That amp was heavily attenuated !
Mr Blug is also a good professional. He would not be risking his long term hearing by doing such a stupid thing as sitting right next to a cranked 100W Plexi.
BTW, I can't believe he never played the LP through either of the PLexis. A real shame for those of us who are not single coil fans.
-
Nope that's not an original as it has a modern IEC power socket. A JTM45 would have a bulgin power socket and not a modern one. Even if it had been replaced there would still be a round hole.

It didn't look like they were attenuating the amp? He could have been wearing earplugs?

Attenuating isn't very "vintage" is it. Anyone concerned with "vintage image" (which I suspect Mr Blug is) would probably hide it. I am sure the attenuator was just sitting on a stool or something similar behind the cab.
Oh, and a definate +100 for the Jtm 45 not being original - so many modern components visible on that back-plate.
-
Will be taking a close look at this later. I love his white strat - I really must get one some day.
-
I reckon the JTM45 is a reissue. Notice the can cap down at the preamp end of the amp.
Most replicas/clones will stick to the original layout of having the preamp filter caps on the board.
Also the back plate has more text on it, whereas again, clones tend to mimic the 60's appearance. It also has fuse ratings for dual voltage, a modern Marshall thing.
Also notice it's had a master volume fitted.

I was wondering that - I felt sure he was fiddling with some kind of master/gain thing, and being no expert here, I thought "hang on a minute, these things were non-master weren't they? :D"
