Seems like forever since I posted about my latest guitar project, the TOC-2 (Twilight Odyssey Custom). Since then I have decided that I also wanted to replace the neck in my '79 Strat after seeing Laz Gajic's amazing Charvel San Dimas style neck. So, these are going to be the TOC-2 and the TOC-3 when all is said and done!
All of the work is once again being done by Laz.
TOC - 2
The body is a Wayne Rock Legend, DeMartini python skin.

Body is alder, chrome OFR. The bridge pickup will be a Cold Sweat (burnt chrome cover); neck pickup will be a Trilogy Suite; middle is blank.
The replacement neck is 1 piece maple with an ebony fingerboard, 6100 fret wire, 1-3/4" nut width. Headstock is reverse J Frog. 22 frets, 14" radius, with a semi-beefy profile based off of the J Frog neck profile.

TOC-3
The body is a 1979 Stratocaster hard-tail. 2 tone burst, solid ash, VERY heavy.

The replacement neck for this guitar is very similar to my other Gajic necks: 1-3/4" nut width, 14" radius, 1 piece maple neck, 6100 fret wire, reverse headstock, etc etc. However, for this neck I wanted a flame maple fingerboard as well as a a flame veneer on the headstock. Also, the nut is going to be bone.
I mailed my original Strat neck to Laz so that he could replicate the headstock shape and neck heel precisely.

Necks should be leaving the shop soon. Watch this space for more details!

It's a dodgy year, they're all different. Mine sounds godly, though, especially with the VHII in the bridge!

I've got a 79 Strat. One of those silver anniversary ones. It's a bit cr@p really. It's got thick glossy syrup on the neck which is quite awful!

Wow those necks are exquisite TO, congratulations. *starts cleaning up drool*

Ben - they look great .
Laz is doing a lovely job there
I'd love to get the chance to play some of his stuff - shame he doesn't do the London Guitar Show
Do you know if he does Music live??
-
Hi Ben, the real question is when will you get them......
I know you have the Cold Sweat for one of them, hopefully we can get together and go through the pickups I have to help you choose the other (but I know you are leaning towards the new Holy Diver - don't know if I will get mine before you order).
Will you put a neck pickup in the snakeskin Wayne?
-
Killer snake, would go well with the right boots on stage and a sh*&kickin' hat like in Kill Bill, oh and by the way, EVERYBODY CHANT "VH2s, VH2s" Now your mum or old lady will think you've totally lost it and joined a cult on the internet. Which, in a way, we all have

The answer is ... when they arrive! :!:

Well, that's the M1, and I'm not 100% sold on what to do with that one just yet.

Hey there...
If you'd like to check out a Gajic original I have one and am in the London area (West London). If you're ever in the area want to pop round and check it out you're more then welcome...pics of gtr are up on my website. Laz does make really great necks.
The last Music Live that Laz did was with John Birch gtrs in 2002...a bit of a fiasco because of the John Birch guys but thats another story...I demoed at the show for Laz that year. He hasn't done the last couple though...I'm not in touch with him anymore so don't know his plans for this year...

Hey JT,
The Supercharger I bought from Chandler Guitars in Kew years ago (I think in 2000 or something like that...). It was a used unit which I picked up for Ģ250...
I've used my SP77 preamp in the same way and it sounded a littledifferent. It kicks out a lot more gain for starters which was initially causing a lot of clipping on the POD. However once I back off the gain it sounded great...Soldano tone for days and more flexible then the Supercharger as it has bass, mid and treb controls. Plugged into my Marshall power amp it sound awesome.
The Supercharger is a lot more convenient to use for me as it sits on the floor out of the way...
Hope that helps...let me know if you have any more Qs... :)
