Title: Floor Tuners
Post by: Jp. on October 13, 2005, 11:21:34 AM
Any body got any suggestions for compact pedal style floor tuners like the Boss TU-2.

Dont get me wrong I like Boss products but I'd like to see if there is anything else on the market and Australian music stores are pretty unadventurous when it comes to non mainstream brand names.

You should have seen the look on the guy's face at my local music store when I asked him about BKP's

"Bare what???!!....."

those petersen strobostomp are supposed to be top of the range, true bypass and all, but they cost a bomb.

There's the Danelectro pedal tuner for $39.-- US.

Ratrod beat me to it, the Danelectro Chromatic Tuner (DJ-25) is pretty good, I've got one on my pedal board. The great thing is that it costs buttons, but they aren't imported to the UK (don't know about Aus though) so I had to buy one from the US off eBay.

If you use a power supply instead of batteries, the screen lights up. Nice touch.

The strobostomp's great, but no good on stage, the display disappears too easily under lights! Kinda defeats the object of the exercise.....

I think the Strobostomp is amazing, but see what the problems can be

I use a Boss TU-2 and it's a great little pedal. Very tough and reliable.

I bought mine for £59 at the London Guitar Show

Plus one for the TU-2!  Does the job, built like the proverbial armoured fighting vehicle, and worth the (modest) investment.

I did find it a bit hard to read whilst I was playing a daytime oudoor gig last month -- but I guess bright sunlight (something of a rarity 'round these parts, in my experience ;)) is going to mess with the readability of all but nuclear-powered LEDs!

I've only heard good things about the Korg DT-10 (I think thats the right model). I'll get one after I've got more important things, such as valves etc. I can still tune up using my v-amp 2 anyway so its not a problem at the minute!
