Title: Interesting tune-o-matic modification

Well, I think it's interesting anyway!

Totally by chance, I stumbled on this thread on the Les Paul Forum the other day.  It goes on for several pages, but the gist of it is replacing the posts of an ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge with stainless steel screws sunk much deeper in the body.  Apparently it gives a brighter tone and improved sustain.

It looks easy to do, and also easy enough to reverse, although there is some risk of snapping a screw if there isn't an adequate pilot hole.  I may give it a try....

I think the original ones were brass and the same length as those ones, if thats what the desired effect is.
And apparently there is an issue about getting them in this country

Yeah I came across that a while back - and it struck me as very interesting at the time... (but not enough to do anything about :lol: - the posts on t-o-m type bridges is not something I've been prepared to risk fiddling around with yet)
