Hi. I have an ESP MII NTB with neck-thru, alder body and rosewood fretboard with emg's 81 and because it has only a volume knob, i want some different sounds and heard of these barenuckle pickups(i thought of replacing the 81 on the neck and put in a 85 or 60 but maybe these passive barenuckle ones are the better way to go). For metal and shred style like satriani, petrucci, vai, what should you recommend? I want high output on the bridge position with definitoin and punch. For the neck position and because i can't take out the highs and treble because i don't have a tone knob, i want a melodic pickup with nice cleans and warm and smooth distortion on leads, petrucci style if you know what i mean. Thanks :D

Cold sweat set.

yep. cold sweats are the way to go. mind that they're not as hot as the 81s, though!

Nope. Quite a bit of poke, but not in 81 range.

I don't know much about getting Satriani, Petrucci or Vai sounds, but IMO the Cold Sweat set would be a great choice for a guitar with no tone controls - there's a really nice contrast between the neck and bridge pickups.
