Hello.
Looking for advice on what might be a decent BKP replacement for this in the neck position of a Mike Stern Signature Pacifica tele style guitar. It's too muddy and woolly at the minute. Thanks in anticipation...

i fear there is no decent BKP, just GREAT BKP... ;)
i'd say a Holy Diver or Cold Sweat if you want beautiful cleans (and in this department HD wins by measure) and want to keep the warm and slightly scooped character of the PAFy '59, with no trace of mud anywhere... but of course you could find a more direct replacement in the vintage section... mule? i can't be of much help in this case because i've got just modern sets! what kind of music/tone are you after?

What bridge pickup are you matching it with? Just to get an idea of how high or low output you need
-
Presumably it still has the Tele Hot Rails in the bridge?
-
erm... is it H-H?
-
It's basically a Tele with a neck humbucker. The stock pickups are a Tele Hot Rails bridge and '59 neck.
-
perverse... a tele without its best thing!
-
Not sure I can justfy the opinion but how about a Black Dog neck?

Thanks for replies. Yes, it's got the hotrails in the bridge and a '59 in the neck. I'd like a more defined clear tone in the neck when played clean to give me a clean rythm but giving a nice grind with distortion. I'm playing it through a modded Bassman 50. The Holy Driver sounds good. Will definitely look into that.
I've got Apaches in my Japan strat, but don't know very much about humbuckers at all-yet!
