Dave has stipulated my PRS GAS and this rosewood thing was quite sticky too, so yesterday I scored on the bay, a '98 McCarty RW for 1,435GBP. Should arrive here mid next week, can't wait!!

You should be ashamed.....great stuff well done.
-
awesome. :)
(ok, all these confession threads have guilted me into it- i picked up a JJ Jewel Junior with p90s a couple of weeks ago. don't have any pics, though (which is why i didn't publicise it).)
-
That's sweet! The rosewood necks have always interested me.
But would you guys quit it already?! I'm supposed to be moving into a new flat next month, and I've already now got such severe GAS that I might spend the money I need for the bond and first month's rent!

Recession? Not in here! Well done looks tasty! 8)

Well somehow this is related to recession, as I was just made redundant - and then there is what Belgians call the "golden parachute" - let's say there is some payment involved, it helps cure GAS temporarily :O)

Hunter,
Very nice guitar. You buying for yourself or buying to sell it to Dave. Just koking enjoy.
-
Bugger sorry to here about the job.

Bugger sorry to here about the job.
Dude, it's fine really. I got well compensated, and then I gotta act for some change anyways after 8 years in the same company. Plus the missus still earns well too, so she can be the man for a bit while I'm reorienting ... after all it gives me some time to play and enjoy BKPs too!
-
Very nice!
I like the grain on the Rosewood neck
-
Well from the pics it seems to confirm Philly Qs theory that PRS nickel hardware tarnishes quickly. But then again, the Axe is already >10y old, so guess that's acceptable. Seller says frets are still great, so in that case I like the fact that it's not a baby guitar anymore. I like them to have a few years ...
-
sorry to hear about the job too, hunter. :(
you're right about the tarnishing, looking at those pics the hardware does look very matte now. not that it's a problem or anything, some people even prefer it like that...
nice colour too, btw. :)
-
Wow...
I need to get over the weird thing in the bottom cutaway though. Looks ugly
-
Great stuff Hunter. Where will all this NGD stuff end! First we had Philly and Dave, then gWem, then me and now you! Anyone else I've forgotten?
-
Nice catch!Well done 8) It's not so easy to find the right McCarty,w/birds and rosewood neck.Don't worry about the hardware being tarnished;the only tarnished parts on my Cu22 are the BKP Mules :lol:Don't forget to post a full report when you'll get it! (PS:A golden parachute? Are you millionnaire now?Or maybe is it a silver parachute? :))
-
Good buy mate!
I bet you can't wait to get that in your arms. :)

Dave has stipulated my PRS GAS
Hunter - just reading this again. Do you mean stimulated as in Dave has lots of PRS's and I want one, or Dave stipulated PRS GAS i.e. he insisted that you got one!
-
Thats sweet!
I swapped my CE 24 for james's Custom 24 with Birds and it's amazing... i'd love to know what those McCarty pickups are like, though.
I just changed my HFS/VB set for a Dragon II set (got them cheap) and whilst the guitar does look much posher now with covers it's not quite as vintage sounding as i might have liked upon first impressions... we'll see after a string change and a play with the pickup heights.
Welcome to the club! :)

Guess I wanted to say "stimulated" - sorry for my not so perfect English - anyways, wouldn't he having been getting his trio of rosewooded McCarty types, I wouldn't have started to research for them. I was GASing for a DGT, but then again, I hardly use Trems. And from all I read on RW necks now, I really wanted to have one to try for a while.
Really like the top and colour on this one, for my taste and as far as I can tell from the Pics, this is perfect, subtle yet noble, and not an even stripe - those I don't like so much. I am thinking of covered Rebel Yells, but not 100% decided yet, first gotta play and hear what it sounds like with that neck.

Hunter - you speak an type better English than many people I work with! As far as Dave's influence goes it was pretty much his CS tele that made me keep an eye out for a 'special' one. Sounds like he did the same to you with his PRS's!
Dave - you have a lot to answer for!
-
Sorry to hear about the job, but lovely guitar!
OK folks, any more confessions? Now's the time!

C'mon ROO! You know it's your turn

Nice work Hunter - I saw that one on eBay :)
They're great!

Well I wonder who started this (Dave!), very nice guitar Hunter. I had a quick unplugged shot of one in a shop yesterday, and thought it was very nice!

I don't think its the same one actually, but thats it!

ok, confession time...
i'm about to buy a custom guitar... :?
and i don't know exactly what to do with a used ibanez rga121vlf i bought to equip with my brand new MMs, just to discover that i should completely reroute the cavities in order to do it... so it comes the custom, and i'll try to sell the ibanez... i fear that i'll come to keep it and so i'll have 12 solid bodies that i already don't know exactly where to put... i know i'm a gearaholic but i just passed the limit between proudness and shame!
-
I'm beginning to think we should just have one confession thread on this forum, just so people can post about NGDs, because there seems to be a lot going on atm.

That's a Custom 22. We're talking McCartys ;)
-
maybe your new job is as a lawyer ;) but one shouldn't joke about losing a job, its never funny.
anyway, i liked dave's rosewood neck prs despite the image. its a fine and very comfortable gigging instrument. rosewood neck has a great feel on the hands.

My apologies Captain PRS

The difference is obvious. ;)
I'm kind of interested in the McCarty, I've only had a Cu22 and CuRo24 myself. I'd love a Korina, but would have to have the neck satinised first. That was the main thing that put me off my Cu22.
PRS rosewood necks are nice, though.
