i have an ibanez rg with a single humbucker (dimarzio d sonic. its ok but gets a little muddy) which im considering replacing. it will have a volume tone and coil split. im looking for something a but less bright than my vh2s that can handle heavy rock riffs to metal chuggin with lots of harmonics on tap. the other thing is it has to split well when i want to slow things down? im seeing alot of ITs paired with holy divers so im assuming the HD will work well as a single coil?

forgot to add that its basically got to be a versatile pickup, seeing that its the only one :?

Nailbomb, holy diver.

Dude, Crawler. You have basically described it in your intro. The HD will possibly be too much, wheras the crawler is the most versatile pickup in the range.

no experience with crawlers, if you want to cover bridge and almost neck-like tones with a single humbucker i'd say holy diver, BUT in a basswood RG you'd have no highs to speak of... nailbomb is very versatile, cleans and splits well (with a very straty sound)...
if you don't want crystal clear cleans have you ever thought about an alnico warpig? i'd get that one if i had just a bridge slot to fill... and it's simply devastating for heavy rock and metal riffing!

Nailbomb or Rebel Yell
Would be my suggestion, Crawler might sound a bit thin in an RG.

i never considered the crawler? i think its gonna be between the holy diver and the nailbomb. ill give tim a bell and see what he thinks?
thanks again 8)

The crawler is extremely versatile, but in an RG its going to be the middiest thing you've ever heard.
