I always wanted a white Viper and when a minter turned up with the rare matching headstock, I couldn't say no. BKP transplant will take place shortly... (click to open full screen)

Nice, I like the ESP version a bit more than Gibson's. But I don't know how I would get on with the neck profile, is it thin?
I am awaiting a White Lion :D
-
Not as fat as an LP, but it's that kind of shape. Remembering back to my SG, I'd say it wasn't as flat as that... That was a long time ago though.
-
SUCH a good looking guitar! I'd love one in a translucent worn brown hue with a warpig and mississippi queen.
-
I love the Vipers; nice spin on an already badass shape. Problem is they don't do a Japanese ESP Viper without active pickups, I believe. I can't be BOTHERED to change actives for passives ._.
Personally I'd retrofit a pickguard but I don't suspect you will.
Very cool guitar.

I have one in see-thru red with that exact pickup combo...

I'm sure they did an artist sig one that had a pickguard. It looked very cool. Also the Jap ESP Vipers come with Duncans, but are all bolt on neck: Jap VP-M (http://www.espguitars.co.jp/original/vp/vp_m.html)
EDIT: Found a pickguard for it: shame it's white (http://www.guitarpartsdepot.com/ESP_LTD_Pick_Backplates-LTD_VIPER_Pickguard_2.html)

Gotta admit, I love 'em. They suit me down to the ground.

don't like the pickguard on it at all :?

Looks good!

You know there was a time when I disliked SG shaped guitars.Over the years my opinion has changed and I know like them very much.Yours has a great variation and I think it looks terrific.

+1
I've come to like them as well.
-
I MUCH prefer the viper shape to the standard SG shape, and that white one is a really clean looking guitar.
My own guitar took a few aspects from the viper in its design.
Personally, I would steer clear of pickguards. I mean, are you really so inept as to miss the strings and hit the body *below* the strings???? I seriously have never, ever understood pickguards! They seem to serve no useful purpose!
rant over - nice guitar, congrats! :)

They're not for when you miss the strings, Roo, they're for when you strum too far over them
This can happen quite a lot in a live situation when you're really rocking out.
-
Like it in red had this (http://www.angelogalloguitars.net/prodimg/al-600LTD.jpg) but hated the pickups..and body too light for me, also the sunburst not as nice as this pic
-
Aha! I think that's the artist sig I was thinking of. Quite like it (and I think that place do that guard also), however I'll be leaving mine guardless.
-
Like it! I love SGs anyway, but the way they've subtly modified the shape and made the body thicker is very neat. I'd like to try one one day.
-
was expecting a sykes les paul or a kramer nightswan when i looked at this thread!
-
I love the shape of Vipers. The white one looks lovely but that red one is stunning!

I can easily mash a 3mm pick in a gig - and I once mashed my hand up and still have bits of flesh jammed in the bridge of my ibanez, so I definitely know what rocking it out live means, but seriously - how do you overshoot by THAT MUCH?! :D

Upgrade complete. Miracle Man set fitted. I like, lots and lots.

Awesome - juan, you've done it and got me looking at Vipers (there seem to be far less of them around than i suspected though) If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for yours?
-
Pretty much the same as the red one over the page, a fraction over £300 delivered. Both were from ebay. The red one was newer and pretty much looks like it'd never been played. The white one has a small ding on the headstock and had a cracked pup ring. The ding you can hardly see and the pup ring I replaced. Otherwise it's pretty much mint for a 2005 guitar. No real fret wear or anything.
I like the Ltd 400's because they're the MIK ones, mahogany and don't have abalone vomited all over them like the 1000's... Oh and they're cheap as chips. 300's are good also but will be older. The new 401's are no longer MIK, no idea what they're like.

It's got nothing to do with being an actual guard lol, unless we're talking about the lespaul or other floating types :)
It was so the electronics could be made seperate to the guitar thus made in mass and attatched later.
-
Grats I love the all black and white look and the fret inlays

Thanks man! All great information. I'll post pics when I find one that wants to come home with me.

I took them around to a friend's to try on his Mesa. It would have been rude not to get a group shot while there. Just to add to your GAS...

yup still prefer the red one

Good for your wallet that. The Grynch (black with metallic green flames) is worth quite a bit more. Especially considering that one ltd edition James Hetfield signature jobbie, which in addition is signed by the man himself on the cavity cover.
I have to admit that I've grown to really like the urban camo version which I hated when I first saw it. Sadly that's a full on ESP, and with the price to match.

I really like your white one! The matching headstock is class!
Although this one is still the one for me - (http://www.insomniasound.com/imagenes/TODAS%20REDUCIDAS%20a%20MITAD/LTD%20Viper400%20VSB.jpg)
Although it's very hard to find with the EMGs - I'm not sure when they sold one in 'vintage sunburst' with EMGs. (they usually came with Duncans i think?)
-
Yep, they don't make it any more. It's an Ltd Viper 400 VSB. You see them come up occasionally. Like you, I'm pretty sure they came with Duncans standard. It's easy enough to swap it all out for whatever you want, regardless of what is fitted in there.
-
i love SGs and Vipers, it's strange how i would have never said anything like that some year ago... now i've got a gibson SG61 and an SG shaped guitar!
lovely collection, i would enlarge it soon if i were you, urban camo and black could be two candidates... ;)
