I have a new acoustic. A Taylor Big Baby and this was given to me yesterday by some friends. I have been helping them with gigs locally for some time- playing guitar and singing and on occasions, keeping the baying mob entertained on my own. I was with them last night when they gave me a envelope and there was a "thank you" card inside and I said there was no need, I am glad to help my mates. Then they staggered me by fetching out a large box with Taylor written on it and presented me with the Guitar. One of the guys bought one a while back and each time I have seen him with it I have made out I was going to steal it. They decided to buy me one- very touching and unusually for me, I was speechless. Yeah I know, pictures or it didn't happen etc etc. If you really want a picture of an acoustic guitar then sure I am able to oblige when I get a moment.

The big baby is nice, now. Older Brother got one a while back, and it's a very nicely screwed together piece of kit.

Great story Steve - enjoy your present!

Got a BigBaby too, once you get over those screws in the fretboard, it's amazing bang for the buck.
Now I want a Faith Mercury Parlour!

not a huge taylor fan..unless you get to silly money...apart from the big babys...great guitar at silly money, well made and sound great

Thank you all. I first encountered one a few months ago when a friend was buying an acoustic and was trying many out.He was prepared to spend up to £400.00. The Taylor was easily the best of the bunch and I suggested he choose it and he did. The more I played it the more I liked it and they picked up on that when they decided to buy a guitar for me.I should imagine it would be a good recording guitar. The tone is surprisingly full and mine is great to play.

^ I remember you saying how good they were for the money a while back. What a nice gesture for a top bloke! :D

I've been reading up on the Big Baby on the Taylor website - looks good, ebony board is a nice feature, and (as always) the slightly smaller body appeals to me. That really is a great gift. :)
But we do need those pics, or sadly it does not exist. :(

that was very nice of them, i'm sure it's a great guitar too :)

That's great! My faith in humanity has gained a point. Humanity now has one point.

Thanks gents- I have just got back from a gig with the guys and I used it tonight. I set up a mic and put it through the PA. I couldn't hear much but many people came up and said it sounded great-not knowing that I'd just got it and , yes, I will try and take a picture tomorrow if I get a few minutes free.

I really like the rosette on a Big Baby. It's the king of simple.
