As I have some spare time and I am really interested to do some heavy stuff, I answered to an ad in the local paper. It's a band that does some in between Rammstein, Opeth and SOAD or sth. They sent me 2 mp3s and asked to prepare for tonight. It's not the lead guitar job, but I am keen on getting a bit into heavy riffing and improve my rhythm tightness, and hispeed shredding is anyway not my thing.
So keep fingers crossed for me please at around 20.30 (19.30 UK time).

good luck! i'm really keen on some really br00tal / techno influenced stuff too recently.
which axe(s) and rig will you take to audition?

McCarty and The Axe-Rig (Axe-FX and 2502). I asked and they have cabs in place, so I'm not gonna bring my Bogner 4x12, I considered it, but thought it's too much for 2 songs, really.
-
Good luck! Not sure how the McCarty pickups will take really high gain though??
-
also surprised by your choice of the mcarthy (just because of the non-metal look), though when i tried twinfan's prs, the workmanlike feel of the neck was very nice for chugging stuff out (rosewood \o/)
-
Well, I was thinking about the SG (also the predecessor played an SG). But I just like the Mc so much now, plus it does actually quite well on chugga, these pickups are not as mellow as some say, mine have quite some fizz too and though being rather low output, they make a nice crunch. If they don't like it ... so be it.
-
the rosewood neck really inspired me. i'd like one on a V, with a natural swamp ash body, ebony board and explorer headstock, maybe even with 25" scale length
most important thing is to be comfortable - PRS rosewood very comfy - go for it tonight br00tal hunta!

Yeah, my MusicMan Axis has got a natural neck too, it is comfy as well. But there's something wrong, because the FR goes out of tune. Maybe sth wrong with the blades or ancer screws. Gotta have it fixed by someone who knows this stuff.

Good luck Hunter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, best of luck, but I'm sure you'll slay 'em!
-
Best of luck Hunter, I'm sure your on your way now. :D
-
It's about 7:30 so fingers crossed! Good luck :)
-
I got here a bit late but I hope it is going well and that you are knocking them bandy ( that is a good thing).
-
Thanks all, you are great!
Righty, it went well. They were impressed about how well I managed to stay tight and in focus on all the breaks. The cab there was a 1960 Marshall so I was lucky, it sounded smashing. They play very well and their compositions are quite demanding. I even had the shivers sometimes because it was such a fat sound.
So, final decision is not officially taken as they have to discuss etc, but the other guitarist already said how impressed they are, that it was like I would have played with them since a long time and I should be prepared to do more songs for next week and they have 3 smaller/medium festivals booked this summer so I better get to work :O)
Here is their MySpace site, they also have some vids: http://www.myspace.com/freelaunchband
One can argue about if it's real to the bone brootalz etc, but I really enjoyed playing with them. Their drummer slays and they play together so well and tight, the sound in the room was PHAT and it was so much fun to be part of it!
So let's see when I get final confirmation, but I'd say I have the job 90%
-
nice going good luck on them giving u the final thumbs up ;)
-
They sounds rather cool, well done hunter hope you get the job!
-
Well done mate. I hope it gets confirmed quickly!

-
Just got confirmation by email. They won't see any other guys and I'm in :O)
Thanks all for your great support, now I got some work to do.
-
Nice one, I like the sound of the band :) Kinda reminds me of an english speaking rammstein but not quite as heavy.
-
Result! Not my thing, but I hope you enjoy it!
-
Superb! Good job man, sounds great.
-
Well done! You should have a whale of a time playing festivals this summer!
One question though, will you need to get one of those pictures made up now of your torso on a stick? :D
Congrats,
Roo

Thanks Roo, I'll surely enjoy myself chugging away tuned to drop D, with the Ueberschall model on the Axe and KT77s in my VHT2502 - huge sound :O)
With the torso thing, not sure, hope they don't use the real body though
-
Good stuff Hunter! I really want to get back into playing in a band again but either don't have the time or can't find anything I like enough in the Basingstoke/Hampshire area!
-
Gratz Hunter :) Sounds like fun playing festivals.
You will be keeping us updated I hope?
-
Nice one Hunter :D
Only just seen this (and I'm at work, so can't look at the myspace stuff), congrats and have fun!

Great - congratulations. Hope you still got time to do some more clips for us here :D
-
Opps sorry  Yes I remember some of you have done a few fests. I did 'Rick Fest' once. It's each year in my mate Ricks back garden. He built a stage for it too. Hmmm... :?
Talking of Harvest Festivals I was there too, man. I was in the Choir for a bit in the Infants .We did several for the old folks in the area and gave them food. :)

Sure, they might be on the more brootalz side though as I am quite busy with the Ueber model on the Axe these days :O)
-
congratulations, from what i've heard on myspace they're really cool! the singer sounds a bit like tiamat's johan edlund...
i thougth you were german, not french!
-
Hunter's Belgian and so are the band he just joined judging by their MySpace.
Being fair it is somewhat geographically and culturally between The Netherlands, France and a touch of Germany.
I really quite liked the clips and I consider myself someone who is not easily impressed, being somewhat of a pessimist I tend to expect trouble at every turn.

And here I was thinking all along that he was German but living in Belgium.. Eu and all that.. no visas...

I am German.
I live in Belgium.
I have a Belgian ID and a German passport.
All clear?

No, can we have copies of each please!!

What is this, the Spanish Inquisition?!
-
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
BTW I was basing it upon Hunter's location, which I can remember from back when they used to be displayed next to posts.
