After wading through the clips of guitarists touting bareknuckles, I began wondering if it would be a good idea to spend time recording our own dedicated demos of these esteemed pickups.
I could only find one for the Abraxas, and others in the range varied enormously in quality.
I believe it will help to publicise this excellent product range and spread the word for top tone.
What do you think?

I recorded one with the Cold Sweat in the same guitar, but it was so noisy and bad recorded that I deleted it
also, youtube somehow tends to steal the gain :?

Just a question a lot of people using clips to help make pickup chopices -- How close is what your here on your PC to what you remember recording since it is a relatively low grade digitally compressed audio stream which messes up a lotta harmonics? I have a pretty decent video logic amp and speaker system on my PC but it ain't rockin' da house.

i never find youtube videos or sound clips of any sort really spot on. i find they point in me in the right direction. any compression is loosing you harmonics, but i find these videos will help me go and look at certain things more. some of them are good.
it helps when the videos feature kit you know and have used. like i saw a splawn amp comparisona to mesa dual rec amp using an A/B box. that was good, because having used a dual rec it gives a basis for comparison against something you know, even though you know in real life it would sound different... if you see what im getting at.

+1 on that.
Youtube videos compress even further. I could imagine Hunter's clips with his Tascam wouldn't be far from how it sounds in the room, if you have a nice sound setup

Has anyone ever run a bkp Tones night. Get people to bring ranges of guitars amps etc to a club and have playoffs for key tones people after then compare notes over a pint or two. Could see it being a regular event moving around the UK and mebbe other places?

Indeed, great playing. As regards the tone, I think the bridge pickup in the last three clips sits perfectly in the mix. Singing when played normal and mean when he digs into. The neck pickup is good but I do not like it as much as the bridge pickup. It appears to get a bit lost in the mix compared to the bridge pickup. If this clip is representative of the NB set then I would be inclined to get a neck pickup that is a bit brighter and cuts a little better. Just IMHO of course.
Cheers Stephan

i don't think the neck is a nailbomb too... NB neck is very bright, anyway.

This guy is a wonderful advert for the nailbombs, but also as a terrific talent Simon Cowell would overlook...because he's a guitarist and not some wailing pathetic R&B merchant or rapping gangsta loser with bling!
