Title: Cold Sweat v Holy Diver: calibrated set shootout
Post by: Antag on April 08, 2009, 01:21:10 PM
OK, I haven't contributed for a while, so time for a shootout! :)

This is just a short bit of clean playing using each of the 3 selector positions to give you an idea of how they balance across the set & the different tones available.  If there's any interest I might do the other sets I have (MM, NB & PK)

Guitar: Jackson RR1T with Holy Diver set
Guitar: Gibson Les Paul with Cold Sweat set
Amp: Engl Savage 120, Engl 4x12 (Celestion G12K-100 Classic Lead 80)
FX: MXR M134 (chorus), TC Electronic G-Major (reverb/delay)
Mic/Recording: Shure SM57 Sennheiser E906, Presonus Bluetube DP, Fostex MR16HD

Enjoy :)

EDIT: Removed original clips (see below)

I prefer the CS the HD sounds congested compared to the CS

OK, I just realised where I went wrong this these so I re-did them today.  I was sure I could get a proper clean sound from my setup & couldn't understand why the original clips were breaking up into slight drive :?

Then I realised that somehow the clean channel input sensitivity got set to high (too many damn buttons & a toddler with busy little fingers!).

Same guitar/amp/fx as before, only difference was I used a Sennheiser E906 instead of the SM57...

Enjoy :)
