Once again im in the market for a new guitar. I need a decent 2 humbucker fixed bridge guitar to replace my G1 that im using in my new band. The G1 plays and sounds great, but just doesnt look metal enough!! The other guitarist uses deans as does the guy I replaced, so i'm after something metal looking, but a little bit different. Ive started thinking about an Iceman, but are they as good as they look?

Trying a Feline Guitars Iceman at a guitar show was a massive surprise for me..
Brilliant balance and excellent ergonomics / access - I loved it!
Give one a try ASAP.

Fireman (http://www.ibanez.co.jp/japan/news/f_products/2009/Fireman/index.html)

And horribly, horribly overpriced for what it is.

Get a good one and they are fab!
I have made quite a few in my time as it is one of my fave guitars
That started from the Paul Stanley /Kiss connection but a good Iceman is a cool guitar
Here is some cool history

Here's just a few of mine:
This one's in the Hard Rock Cafe in Munich
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/felineguitars/CUSTOM%20BUILT/HRC_Munich_G01_Paul_Stanley__KISS__.jpg)
This one was built for a Kiss Tribute band - over 2500 Rhinestones stuck on this one
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v662/felineguitars/CUSTOM%20BUILT/diamante-iceman.jpg)
This one is sat in my cupboard here (great playing guitar) - and I wont make any more using this logo as Harley were not pleased with me using their trademark logo (understandable)

I do hope you mean the Guitar and not the guy in the Tin hat?
Those Felines look cool.

Why so set on the iceman shape?
I've only played one. It was OK. I guess theres as much variation in them as anything. The shape doesnt do anything for me.
play a few and see what you think.

great looking guitar in both standard and reverse forms :P
-
i got an iceman bass, its awesome. its one of the mid 90s MIJ models
havent had the chance to play the guitar version
-
On the shape it does remind me of a little cartoon animal waving :?
-
never played one, but shape is cool... black with white binding is very cool.
-
Paul Gilbert is awesome, but the Fireman is awful... and apparently $9000 US :o

ROFL.

Only three letters, but it says a thousand words.
They do seem very very VERY glam rock to me, but in a glam band, I guess that's okay :D

I first saw the Iceman in a System Of A Down vid, so the metal credentials are definately there, certainly a guitar that i've thought of buying (especially if they did a seven string)

Roo... we've never fallen out before and I don't wish to now... SO...
Don't make me school you over an implied slur on the GREAT Paul Stanley! PDT_046
(Gene, i'd let slide coz he is an asshole)

Haha! Actually it was merely commentary on Jonathan's choice of words :) Reading between the lines, if you will.

My Iceman love is still 75% because of Stanley

any guitar covered in rhinestones would appear glam... actually i reckon the iceman could look quite br00talz
-
white zombie anyone!!
if i remember right they also played with a mirror topped iceman.. not like the cracked mirror ones. it was a load of rectangular mirrors maybe about 2"x1" - very tasty actually.
i have tried to draw a version a few times but the horn is difficult to get right, it looks daft on paper

great example of a br00talz Iceman wez!

white zombie anyone!!

God almighty, I used to want an ICJ100 so badly in the 90s.

Good grief, me too!
Here's a more metal-looking Iceman:

I think somehow you have to have bigger "cojones" to go out on stage in stack heels and using a rhinestone encrusted axe than to have cut off combats, a wallet chain and a hamster stuck to your chin
Please note said with a sense of humour!

It possibly also helps if you like your arguably-bigger 'cojones' being fondled by a large beardy German named Hans. :)
But on a serious note, I think it just takes a more outgoing personality, tbh. Some people just like drawing attention to themselves. In fact I think all people like this, it's just that some people do it through being outspoken opinionated gits on internet forums (the sad ****s like me), and some people do it by glamming up and gurning as they play on stage. The latter probably make for a better show (how else do you explain the absurd popularity of The Darkness?), but I can't change my personality, so there :) You'll just have to make do with Vociferators and obscene downtuned dirt :)

It's one style guitar I really do like. I have never tried a Feline guitar yet, but based on what you guys on this forum say I'd have them build one for me if I were in the market. Not sure what colour/ finish I'd go for... but a very cool shape for sure. :)
-
I wonder why nobody mentioned him before...
Daron Malakian from System of a Down, the man with the Iceman guitar...
Don't know about the guitar, never played one, but I sure like the man...

You guys certainly arent helping me with my GAS! Those Felines look great but probably a bit too glam for me .
Heres a short clip of us (with cr@p sound). Im the guitarist on the left that suddenly appears about 2 minutes in. The G1 sounds great, but I dont think cuts it visually.

Im gonna have a hunt around and see what I can find. I dont fancy the later reverse headstock ones. That would just be a pain with a fixed bridge. Ill let you know what i can come up with.

without stars, diamonds and fur coatings the icemen look definitely cool.
and metal, for that.
