I recently got some decent recording equipment and so I re-recorded a song I had posted here a couple of months ago. The guitars are triple tracked; on the right is the cranked Matamp with heavier bass and a boost pedal in fornt, in the middle is the cranked Matamp without the boost, and on the left is a ceramic Warpig with the Mat cranked but with less bass. There is also a clean DI on the left side using the ceramic pig.
Epi SG Custom (Ceramic Pig, Pig-90[M], Alnico V Pig[N]) > D*A*M Sonic Titan > Matamp GTO 120 > Magus Innovation Ultimate Attenuator > Marshall 1960b > Tascam VT-1 mic > Tascam USB interface > Cubase LE >

the next one is without drums so you can realy hear the guitars

uhm... i preferred very much your older stuff. i don't know, maybe the lack of drums on both tracks explains it, but your tone has become quite inconsistent (i remember i commented a track in which you had one of the heaviest tones i had ever heard). but maybe it's just THIS tune...

Sorry mate. The Matamp is very hard to record well. Its got a very bassy tone and its also piss loud as f*%$. The song is somewhat moody though, not so much heavy chugging or melt your face off rock, but more about spacey chord changes and tempo chnages. Plus, pretty much every time I record, I end up with some kind of a new tone, whether its due to mic placement or new equipment or whatever.
Anything you think that could make it better would be appreciated Dheim, Ive got an 11 minute epic Im fixin to start recording and I'd like it to sound as listenable as possible.

i recognize it's not easy to record this kind of tones... in a full arrangement i'm sure it has much more sense than alone. that's why i prefer to record multiple tracks even in my shootouts! ;)
