Can anyone advise on BKP replacements for a PRS Custom 22?

I love my VHIIs in my PRS, really opens the sound up. Other people have had success with Crawlers and Mules. I've had a black dog in a PRS too - that sounded great, lots of midrange bark!

btw Welcome! :P

I'd like to get a sound similar to Carlos Santana's PRS but with perhaps a bit more edge, not quite as smooth if that makes sense. Right now it just sounds dead.

I haven't seen Abraxas on the BKP products list. What are they?

Does the name Abraxas signify anything?

Just wondered because it's also the name of one of Santana's best albums!

That's the sound that the Abraxas is aimed at.  I put a couple of little things up there a while back.  Mine are Abraxas IV (Alnico IV magnets), Abraxas V's are also available I believe.  I have them in a Les Paul.

In my PRS Artist, I have VHII's and I love the sound.  Tim will supply them with a reversed magnet in the neck pickup if you have the 5-way switch.  It is well worth it.  The in-between sounds are great.

:D VHII`s are great for that santana type sound particuly the neck, but the Crawlers, Abraxas & Mules are all good calls to. Check out the Players Room

The new "almost/kind of released" Abraxas is a first stop for Santana-ish vibes, though the suggestions of the Crawlers for a touch more edge also sound reasonable to me.  I haven't listened to the VHII clips as much, I confess, but they might be worth checking ....  (I'm on a quest to decide on a Santana or souped-up-Santana vibe for my LP's neck pickup.)

Now, though, is a good time for me to call out for more Abraxas clips from anyone who can make 'em :)

Cool!  If you take requests ....

Natch, some obligatory Santanoid woman tones, to set the mood. 8) But I'd also be interested in hearing a) clean tones and b) cranked power chord riffs. I expect  the Abraxas to perform well in classic-toned mediumish gain situations, but it'd be neat to hear it going through its paces at closer to the either of the gain spectrum's extremes!

An Abraxas neck pup is what I'm most keen on (perhaps paired with a 'Pig down below ) but both neck and bridge pups would be cool to hear! :)

The intro to 'Blues the Healer' would be nice start. And 'Well Alright' is a good Santana rock classic. :)
