it's fine to use the fx loop send on my HT5 to my sound card line in right?
the fx loop on the amp has a -10dbv and a +4dbv switch for pedals or rack gear, which one should it be set to use with my sound card?
I finally found my spare audio cable, that's ok to use ye? or do I need to get another guitar cable?
*update* doesn't matter now, lots of googling found out I needed -10, really need another guitar cable now to get rid of noise :)

-10dB is line level, so use that. Unless the effects send has some kind of cabinet emulation, it's probably not gonna sound very good direct into the sound card on your PC.
I heard some clips posted here recently that sounded fantastic and were direct recordings using a Palmer Speaker Simulator - I NEED to get one of those babies.

cheers, it's going through revalver so cab emulation isn't a problem, it's for recording purposes, it works well, I just need to find the option in cubase to record the line in signal

If you use the loop out, or the line out/heaphone out....do you still need a cab hooked up to take load or something???
If not then it makes direct recording easier.

going out the fx loop send to the soundcard the amp still makes sound like it normally would so I have to turn down the volume controls which has no effect on the volume from the preamp, so I'm guessing the volume knobs effect only the poweramp
I only tried the headphone out when I had the broken one so I don't know if it mutes the speaker
