Title: VH11 Tom Foolery
Post by: AS on October 18, 2005, 10:41:22 PM
In a moment of weakness I may have succumbed to a bit of the 'old neo classical'. All done on a PRS with a VH11 in the bridge. Now, if only HJM would deliver my other VH11 I could complete my Yngwie fixation and switch to the neck pickup occasionally

It's done through a combination of having way too much time on your hands, no taste and an unhealthy fascination with Sweden.

Clip was recorded using a 1989 PRS Custom 24 with a VH11 in the bridge position. That then went straight into a Pod XT Pro (I'm far too lazy to use an amp). For recording I use  a MOTU 896HD and Logic Pro 7. Hope that helps

Are those licks all based on harmonic minor scales?

holy cr@p great playing! Any chance you could do some more crunchy rhythm stuff? I think for my next guitar I may get a VH2 after hearing this and Bainzys clips!

It's the only scale AS knows

(Just to fill you guys in, we went to college together a few years back.....we'd do crazy things like The Attitude Song  and Vinnie Moore tunes for recitals......and I had to out up with sharing a house with him for a year......his PRS is very nice too! - so hence lots of leg pulling...and I won't shave until he learns to play with taste...)

No danger of either of those two things happening then. We should do some more of the instrumental stuff at some point, maybe even branch out into a little jazz? To be fair only a couple of bits are based around Harmonic Minor. The rest is mainly diatonic arpeggios and major scales. If any one's interested let me know and I'll post a tab for it.

It's a bit rushed and scruffy but here's the tab for the Etude. If anyone has got any suggestions for a demo they'd like to hear let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.  Cheers  8)

Very nice smooth sweeping. Excellent tone.

You want to share some POD XT tones? I have made quite a few, found i make nicer cleans then rhythms.

Good stuff once again.

I'd be up for that. What sort of sounds are you after or do you want the complete set off the XT. Cheers

Start slow and buy a metronome...don't rush - AS used to drive me up the wall with his metronome into the early hours.....
