Care to elaborate? Is this a real TV show or an idea for one? When is it on? What is it called? How have they wangled that?

Think he is trying to be funny. Bradock just ask your question about the Gilmour Strat- if you put that into the thread title it's more noticeable for people who know about the strat to come in and comment.

Sorry was late and it was an idea for a show - it would never ever happen because each company would be scared the other would do their product better. I did the post then remembered the gilmour question and thought I wouldn't start two threads. So I thought I would leave it. Moved it to its own thread now
On the swap who do you think would do the better job - are there any other swaps you would like to suggest?
-
I think the Fenders are the easier guitars to replicate and therefore I reckon that Gibson would make a better Tele or Strat than Fender would a Les Paul or SG.
-
That was my thought as well
-
Anyone can make a better $%ing Les Paul than Gibson.
-
That statement is just so flawed Jonny, there would be no Les Paul if Gibson hadn't built the great name up.
Yes there are duds, but there are so many different LP sounds through the years, not all Norlins are bad, they are just different sounding due to different construction methods.
I haven't tried many in shops, but there has been only one noticably 'dead' sounding one (a black LPC).
Unless you are pointing out 1)finish flaws 2) bad set up out of the box? 1) don't bother me at all, 2) pay to get it set up, and anyway, thats the shops responsibility, not G's. How can an international company set up a guitar for your humidity?
That was not a rant
Anyway.. I think both companies attempts would just feel wrong, I think there is a 72 tele that is remarkably Gibson, and I haven't heard of any big players of them

Yeah I know. I said it like an ignorant tw@t.
But not like I'm wanting them to burn in Hell or something. The only Les Paul I've ever liked was the Classic.

This board is sooo anti Fender - I would leave if it wasn't for the fact that the Fender boards are generally full of tw@ts......... :D
-
There's just a disproportionate number of metallers on this forum (which i suspect is partly down to BKP's advertising stratagem), and metallers (in my experience) hate Fender and just about everything else that isn't black, pointy, and angry.
Fenders are for making pussy music
-
I love fenders, have loads of gas for a tele, and always have wanted a mustang.
-
i think you would end up with a fano

Nah, strats are where it's at! I think strats are less spoken of because it's assumed that it's a king of guitars :)

I like Fenders.
If it wasn't for Fender, there would be no Ibanez, ESP, Jackson, etc.
-
I like metal, but also like lots of other music too. I'm primarily a Gibson guy, but love my Tele - pointy guitars do sweet FA for me.
-
Flying Vs/Explorers are as pointy as I would go (for now)
I'm not a BC Rich guy. Or Moser, or whatever.

Me neither. I very nearly bought a Dean Razorback once (the slime bumblebee model) but decided to get a strat instead. I shudder when I think about how close it was  I'm now firmly a Fender man with a bit of LP action thrown in.
Anyway, I firmly believe everyone on this forum can co-exist peacefully. Rather like George Bush's thoughts about fish and human beings.
