Title: Grounding Plate

I see that when ordering Country Boy pickups you have a choice of nickel silver or brass grounding plate.  Could somebody explain what a grounding plate is and what the difference is between having a nickel silver or brass one is?

A telecaster bridge pickup has a plate underneath (which looks like it is made of copper, but I believe is copper plated steel).  The idea I think is to do 2 things, add a bit more treble and also act as the grounding point for the bridge.

I'm not sure how N/S and brass would differ in the sounds.  I'll leave that to the guys at BKP.

Actually it's not to add more treble, it's to add lower end grunt......take one off and it's brittle city!
We predominantly use the vintage copper plated steel as they look and sound great.The earliest ones were zinc plated.
The Nickel plate is just a different finish but we're in the process of having a slightly thicker nickel plated baseplate made for the higher gain Teles to add even more punch.
