Title: Scratch-Built Cab
Post by: Kemra on October 19, 2005, 04:12:58 PM
Ok, I just got a JCM 900 off of Ebay, I have been offered the matching Cab for £200. But I was thinking of having a custom made Cab just like Davey is doing. I was thinking of a 4*12, but other than that evrything else is open tos uggestions. I just need a general idea of cost etc if anyone can help with that.

Regards

Biggest cost is speakers, you could be looking at £150-200 for good celestions. Then hardware and vinyl. Not forgetting the timber!

Matamp might be able to help with speakers and hardware, even coverings. :P

It's hard (almost impossible) to build the kind of cab you're looking at for £200. If there's one on offer grab it.

no way of building yur own for 200.

unless you know some people and can pull some strings.

i got the cab alone for free (dad paid for it since he knows the carpenter, the thing cost about 50$)
i am waiting for the speakers now since they dont have 8ohm ones at the shop (canceled the order for 16 ohm ones) and the speakers +shiping are going to run me at around 200$
then comes in the wires, handles, input jack, wheels (or something like it), the foam on the bottom and one of the sides isnt realy cheap either. the grille and corner-bump-thingies.
havent found any tolex around here (either green or other wacked up color hehe) but i doubt it's realy cheap

so, at total, imo the cab would run you around 400$ which is a tad more than 350€ .. so that makes it umm... 300quid?

Thanks for the reply Davey. I know I wouldn't get it built for a mere 200, but I just wanted to check my options. I have emailed matamp about prices so I'll keep an eye on my email.
