Hi,Steve!I can see why you would like the Blackstar...but,i went on and i found the "Proguitarshop"video about the Vox Nightrain and,to my ears,it's even more desirable 8)!Of course,it's not for the same kind of music..but i love it! :)

AWESOME.
Want.

I don't know whether it was because of a generic / dry sounding pickup, but the cleans were stiff, crunch didn't have much life, or actual crunch to it, and OD is quite brutal (but not my thing ofcourse).
All IMO ofcourse, I am sure the big gain people would like it

Having seen Blackstar amps in person, I was less than impressed at the build quality. The tolex application is a joke.

i didn't take a look at the tolex, but i didn't really like the artisan 15 i tried. not a bad amp, but its tones did more or less nothing for me. I'm also extremely wary of them because of all the hype which has built up around them. the guys in the shop thought it was awesome too, and thought it smoked the s/h cornford carrera they also had (to which my response, in my head anyway, was "o_O")... which also made me very wary.

I was intrigued by them, then i got a JCM800 that was supposedly modded by one of the blackstar designers, and the corners have been melted off some of the caps inside. its an untidy job for what should be a simple task given the PCB and what he's actually done. this in turn put me off blackstar.
