So i just pulled the trigger on a edwards les paul custom mahogany body with maple top and ebony fretboard
Thinking nailbombs for this one want an alinco since i have a ceramic in my LP studio.
What else would work well open to suggestions

thats what i was thinking how do you like your edwards btw?
This guitar will be more for lead work, coming from clips nailbombs sound the best for leads to me.

Would the bombs have to much low end?
Looking for clarity, tight bass well as i can wth alinco sweet highs and present mids.
Will be used mostly for leads as states above.

I don't know, but I don't find the Nailbomb that tight - it's a big upper-mid focussed sound.
I'd be thinking along the lines of the Crawler perhaps?

I have bombs in a LP Custom....excellent tone-I had tried a few others in it/always had a problem with brightness,but I wanted to keep my 500k rs pots in it-the bombs are the solution-check out the Chris George clips with his LP bomb and that is what I'm talking about-the exact tone I get

I don't have an edwards (maybe you're confused about my edwards statement in another thread, but I was talking about a friends edwards lp goldtop)
I have a Hurricane (that japanese brand endorsed by marty friedman and jason becker in the 80's and produced some bill lawrence and fender japan lines)
they have similar construction, gotoh stock parts and heavy woods
the edwards has a better finish, though
my hurricane had some gotoh, duncans, gibsons, emgs, mighty mite
it sounded pretty good with the holy diver and the miracle man
but the cold sweat was(still is) the best in that guitar, imo
and the holy diver as a close second
I also had a huge sounding handmade les paul copy in brazilian mahogany and imbuya top that had the miracle man, painkiller and holy diver too
in that one, the best was the miracle man, but the holy diver was awesome too
unhappily it didn't sound no near as good in my gibson SG (actually it did, but only for lead tones)
an alnico 8 magnet solved the lack of tightness, brightness and output in that guitar, but took part of the holy diver mojo
if you want a big, smooth and clear lead tone, I can't think of anything as good for that as the diver

The clarity was more for chords with a good amount of gain which is my biggest concern for diver's im still waiting for the man to get back to me

my friends edwards with the stock jb sounds similar, but the my hurricane with the diver sounded clearer, more open sounding, a bit less aggressive, but a bit tighter/more defined in the lows and smoother in the highs
it's not a mushy pickup and it's wonderful for chords, since it's fat, but very detailed
just not really aggressive and loud like most people expect from a high output pup
it's actually more like Doug Aldrich on the Holy Diver Live DVD than Vivian Campbell on the original album

Sebby...dont forget the amp in the chain of tone..what will you be playing thru??(Doug has some hotrodded MArshalls which have a lot to do with that Aldrich tone as well...)

Very aware i use a Mark IV's and IIC+'s i forget to tell you i got one!
They work very very well together i was very suprised to see how close my mark IV was teaked to it but the IIC+ has this whole other freq. together they work great
So the debate is bombs or divers......
Can anyone compare the two if the bombs have a little more bite it might be the better way to go.
BTW which is tighter i love the compression on my coldsweats still looking for that.
Maybe a c-bomb will work ah...

Yup simul/rev/eq!
It's my favorite amp but im scared to take it out on the road!
Its a head which i run through a custom made porty city 4x12
Regardless, knowing what amp i have!
What pickups do you think work well for : Amazing lead, clarity, rolled off high end but with bite and tight bass
I have coldsweat's and love the lead tones on them so im thinking of going the c-bomb route as its a slighlty darker which will be good for the ebony.
BTW i changed the guitar i returned it for a gibson les paul studio white with ebony fretboard so the same woods and everything still apply.

sweet...hmmm...I have not played the Cold Sweat, but I do like the Bombs in my Custom-they are full, and they tamed the brightness-very agressive lead tone -I can hit pinch harmonics anywhere with the bombs-good modern tone

The studio doesnt have a huge maple cap like the custom just the ebony fretboard so i think going ceramic wont be to bright i hope. Then again i have a ceramic in my other paul... hmm

whats cool about the Bomb , in my case, is that it darkened the tone somewhat, allowing me to pull treble and use for additional gain without getting too trebly!!

Nice that sounds like the way to go!
