Title: just split with my band
Post by: dheim on May 10, 2009, 04:16:00 PM
...i had some fun with them (we played mainly metalized version of 80s hits) but actually felt like i was driving with the handbrake engaged... almost every time i tried to make something "creative" with my arrangements i was constantly put down, and started losing any interest in what we were doing...
i hope i will soon find a band to play some original music with, but it's very hard.
who's good plays to live or at least hopes to do it. and i can't rehearse twice a week or play live every weekend...
who has got other works plays just for fun and, in general, level is lowish...
don't get me wrong, many people play for passion in the spare time and do it at excellent levels. they already have their bands, though!

Pretty much why I quit my first band, as well as the vocalist being an arrogant idiot.

Getting new bands together is so damn hard, the band I'm in now has been looking for a drummer since last november (our last drummer quit) and only found 1 guy and we have no idea how he sounds or what he looks like yet

i was asked to play bass in a prog-death band, but i could like it and i don't want to end as a bass player... :)

If you've any interest in visiting Oxford, I'd like to hear how our band works with 2 guitarists (and I like the stuff from you that I've heard, so that's a good start, right?). Of course, the feeling may not be mutual, but feel free to drop me a PM if you fancy trying something out. :)

Good you took that step, it takes some guts to do it but the only way to move on.

Why not take the bass player job to stay in the game and look for something in parallel?

Advertise in guitar shops look for adverts even post in the local rag. It's amazing what you can find if you really look. For most people it's that their pool of contacts is too limited to find what they want?

My band recently dissolved and I couldn't be happier. Just so much drama stirred up by the drummer, i'm glad he's out of the picture and i can devote time to becoming a better guitarist and songwriter.

i found an interesting ad, but the guys talked about "european tours" and this is simply not possible for me!
every other ad is about funk rock bands and it's not what i'm interested to do...

if i had the guts to move to UK (actually it would be much better for my work too!) i'm sure i'd find many excellent musical opportunities (and of course, Roo and MDV, i'd be very glad to play with you guys!  :)), but  here (in Italy - but most of all in the town i live in!) is quite difficult...

i'll definitely start looking around.

Invite people out to Italy = "If you ask them they will come"!

Move to the UK then.  Italy is only a drive away if you don't like it.  :D
