just wanna say how much i love my country boy pickups. very nice sounds, none of the shrillness some tele pickups have, and the neck isn't overly dark either 8)

Welcome to the forum. I quite agree, they are very enjoyable and brought my Tele to life. There are many big Tele fans around here and one of the biggest, though in denial, will wax lyrical on the merit of all things Tele.
What sort of music do you play and tell us about your guitar.

well, i play a load of different stuff really. i am in a band which kinda plays progressive indie music, but i also have a thing for albert lee's pickin' (wonder why i got the country boys!) and danny gatton. not a massive country music fan but i have been playing for ages (started off with all the shred rubbish and grew up :) ) but i love the tone of country players and it is a style that i haven't really studied, so i am enjoying learning something new. i grew up on rosewood board strats so my maple board tele is a really different sound and feel to what i am used to.
anyhow, about the geetar. i wanted a kinda mid 50s tele, but fender didn't have all the options i wanted (outside of the custom shop, and they seem obsessed with jumbo frets on custom shop guitars anyhow) - i like big chunky V necks, vintage frets, 7.25 radius, low output pickups and a compensated bridge. so i built my own. i spent about 6 months sourcing parts that i wanted and this is the result.

changed a bit since that pic, i have gone to a 5 hole pickguard, top hat switch, and flat top knobs.

Nice looking geetar :D
I'm about to change to top-hat switches on all my teles after my custom came with one. I used to think they look "ugly", but they don't do they? And they seem just a touch easier to use.
Glad to hear about the Country Boys some more - I very nearly went for them originally.
And welcome to the forum :D

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. Nice looking guitar. Got to say have not tried Country boys yet but they are on the list of I ever get another Tele. There certainly are a good few tele lovers on here. There also a few closet tele fans like Roo. He has just not come out and said it yet.
Hope you enjoy the pickups in your guitar

Great looking guitar and your philosophy is similar to mine. I have to ask ( stop sniggering all those who know what is coming)- have you got a four way switch for your pickups?.

Welcome to the forum ! :)
You certainly made a great job of that guitar. I have a standard 'Baja' Telecaster which I remain very happy with, which I bought for the ( affordable ) 50's vibe - and not for the 6 way tone options. Again, it felt great as it has a chunky neck and looked the part with it's 50's bridge / styling - but I seem to prefer the 9.5 radius.
Yours is a real gem though ... 8)

nah, i might put a phase reverse switch in there later but i don't really use the "serial" sound
