Says the man with no taste must say prefer with rosewood fingerboard
-
How many positions does that selector? 5?
-
don't know think it's redifussion so prob get tynetees
-
It's one of those guitars that's really ugly, but I'd still like to own one... if I could get it dirt cheap. So I'll never own one.
Carlos Santana played one, for about 5 minutes:

OMG - that takes me back to my Grandma's house :o - lived in Gateshead and had the rediffusion switch on the wall for the TV/Radio

The L5S looks better, this is a Warmoth body on its design:

If it had double F hole I would be really in trouble

The Gibson L-5 (solid body) was a very nice guitar.More expensive than a LP,at the time;it was kind of Gibson's"top of the line".
-
Slightly off-topic, but has Carlos Santana ever endorsed an instrument he didn't call his "Rainbow"? I remember seeing ads for the Yammy SG-175, the Gibson above and the PRS with this exact line.

So did Al DiMeola

My Core Jazz is roughly based on this shape too (although it's more influenced by the L5-S than the L6-S)

that is odd..but kinda like it.....and yeah feline remember the old days of the redifussion...am showing my age now

I have always had a liking for the Gibson L6. I guess its the body size, as I find Les Pauls a bit small. But even the obscure Gibsons are out of my price range now. I seem to remember used ones of these, and things like Marauders, Challengers and Sonex's selling pretty cheaply not so long ago. Not any more!
I had a nice bolt on neck lying around, and some nice timber. I wanted to make myself an LP Jnr. I sort of combined the LP Jnr and the L6 into one guitar and came up with this. An LP Jnr with an L6 sized body.

Fun guitar, with a lairy 22K pickup in the bridge slot!!!

Doesn't the guy in Razorlight play one?
I thought that they were becoming trendy again - as per the old saying
"You keep anything long enough and it will eventually come back into fashion!"
-
Yes soon and my Mammoth Tusk sporan will be proudly worn again!!

The originals had 4 coil humbuckers but the later ones went to regular 2 coils. It came with maple or rosewood neck and wasn't that expensive when new, but now seems to be having a bit of a comeback. There were also 2 versions of it, I think a deluxe and the standard. The deluxe had a normal 3 way switch, black epoxy pickups and strings through the body.
