Bought these strat covers (white - no pole-pieces) and would like to know how long is cool for letting it age (It's alread emerged in Mustard, if don't work, will put on coffe - want it to look like these cream lace sensor)
Also does anybody know if they work on BKP strat pickups :D
thanks
EDIT: Changed the thread title because of the perverts :P

I was expecting another thread about wooden dildos...

Same!

On the first question, I don't know - I just buy covers that are already an "aged" colour.
On the second, they should fit BKPs but they won't be a good fit because the polepieces are raised quite high above the bobbin. Maybe you could make some kind of little cardboard spacer (with 6 holes in it for the polepieces) to sit between the bobbin and the cover?
-
Hummm thanks Phill! I'll figure out more ahead... if you buy strat pickups let me know the height of it :D
For the two perverts: HELL NO! :P
-
Well, the white covers are more than one week on mustard and nothing...
Also nothing the ones on coffe, since wedsnesday, if I'm not wrong... Making a coffe now, lets see if it had to be HOT coffe

Maybe if you lightly sand the covers with some fine wet-or-dry paper, the stains might "stick" better to a rougher surface?
I also read brown shoe polish might work as a stain. Worth a try?
-
I've been thinking in sanding it too, will give a try if this doesn't work (seems it won't)...
Will give a try too with the shoe polisher :D
-
What about soaking it in tea? Is that a method or is it just a myth?
-
I've heard of the tea method before (but only for scratchpaltes).
I'd cover it in tea and yogurt and bury it in the garden for a bit.
EDIT: Although I don't know if that would work either,
-
I've sanded it with 1200 grit yesterday, lets see if it helps a little...
Will buy tea bags....
-
it does help but can highlight scratches rather than anything else - 1200 should be good
i havnt found a method i like for doing this

I'm sure I've told this one before, but one of the guitarists in Kix used to hang his guitars up in a shed with a row of burning cigarettes under them, so they'd get stained by the smoke/nicotine.

Just bought Worcestershire Sauce and Shoyo... will try monday or tuesday...
-
Well if it doesn't work, you can at least season your dinner.
-
I aged a switch tip in tea for about a week to get it to the same sort of colour of the rest of the plastics on a 10-15 year old guitar. Worked well.
-
Thanks Juan! My friend (Chemestry guy) told me to put alcohol on the things, that would get better in the plastic, tonight I shall get back home and will try everything :D
