Title: When the missus is out ...
Post by: hunter on May 18, 2009, 06:35:17 PM

... the boys can play

Partial band living room rehearsal tonight, 2 guitars and 1 bass, all going through the Axe FX into an FBT Verve 12MA monitor.

I soundchecked all 3 instruments and it will sound great  8)

Miss the Missus anyways though, she'll be back in 6 weeks!

Why do you hide the guitars under a bush?

Sorry, didn't prepare the picture so well, sun is so rare in Belgium, I wasn't fast enough to get it all tidy for the shot  8)

Thats untidy

I'd hate to see tidy.

Its just odd that the guitars under a bush, is all.

Clean the floor much? And the same comment as MDV about the untidiness.

He'd like us to think he's playing guitar, but I notice a Playstation controller within easy reach of the sofa.  :D

I hope the session goes well! :)

3 instruments going through the Axe FX? Do they each get different amp/cabs etc aswell?

Yes, pretty much:

2 Guitars each with their own amps, cabs, overdrives, EQs, Reverbs, Delays
1 Bass with dedicated compressor, EQ, Drive, EQ

It worked well. I only would have wished for a second monitor so I could have panned the guitars a bit L/R, but was good enough.

Not a bush - that is the top of the guitar - still has branches coming out of the top of the neck
It is part of Gibson's greener guitar range

Tuning is only affected on windy days

What no dancing nurses in rubber uniforms?
Looks like a fun setup. My place has stuff lying around all over the place too. A dancing nurse on top of me Koch would be a nice touch though.

Well, I was running EZ Drummer on logic on the living room HiFi. but indeed, there would have been one more input available to run that one through the Axe too, but maybe a bit much for one single speaker source.

Nope, 4 (or 2 stereo if you want, but you can use the 4 separately). The stereo FX return has a level pot for in and out and can be used as ins.

You only have two input gain controls for the pairs though. So in our case, I had to adjust the gain for both guitars as a compromise.

ah so that's why there are 4 lines of blocks in the software editor!!! can you output the instruments separately as well?

Not sure if that's the reason for the 4 lines, it's probably more display/processor power reasons I presume. Bear in mind that many patches for 1 guitar can easily use 2,3 rows, for running multiple amps in parallel etc.

Axe has even more outs than ins because apart from the Out 1 and 2 (each in Stereo, so 4 outs), there is also the digital output.

you can only use 2 amps per patch right?

Yes, don't really think you'd need more. 95% of the time I am using one amp only.
