Wasn't quite sure about where to introduce myself on the forum, I'd be happy for someone to move it somewhere more appropriate if needed!
Anyway, hello there !
Just some Irish guitar player dude who thought he'd register after being on the site a tonne of times researching pickup upgrades, and finally deciding to go with Bareknuckle (heard nothing but good things). I've just recently ordered them but haven't got them in my guitar yet, very excited to say the least !
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty (3 pickups.) It just had the standard epi wiring and pickups before, but I'm upgrading to a Riff Raff in the neck, a Mississippi Queen P90 in the middle, and a Cold Sweat in the bridge. I know it's a pretty odd set up there, but I have a very wide range in music taste and wanted to cover alot of tonal ground, seems like it will do the job!

Video is from about two or three years ago, but my setup is unchanged from then (sad, I know...)
I could have almost bought a new guitar with the money I'm pouring into this, but I just love that Epiphone after the years spent playing it and wanted to treat it right before upgrading, it will always be a played guitar for me. I mean it even sounds nice currently, it's just not as clear as I want it to be...
I'll hopefully have it all set up in the next week or two weeks at the most and get some recordings or videos up !

I always wanted a Epiphone Black Beauty, I really really really wanted one for my first serious guitar.
You get a pretty good sound out of that Zoom amp, though as I keep saying It's all in the fingers and you play very well. Better than me, for sure. Well done and welcome!

Yeah man, it's a really great sort of budget guitar. I went for it after the obligatory Fender Squier learners guitar, and I've never looked back, great for the price, and at that I got a good deal on it too :).

Great sound and playing, really it's awesome! Was thinking: why change it if it sounds that good? LOL, I am always tinkering with my stuff so better shut up :O)
I have that guitar, but from Edwards and in white!
So how will you wire those PUs? I guess you will change the switching for more useable PU combinations?

Yeah man, the guitar sounds nice as it is, but it's not really able to do everything I want it to, so the Bareknuckles are to help me to vary my sound alot. Also, the Epiphone pickups really arent bad, but I would like to have somewhat of a hotter tone than I get in that video at least in the bridge. Plus the Epiphone pickups aren't too great for rolling back the volume and cleaning the tone up. I know the Bareknuckles will be an improvement :)
Originally I was going to get a different middle posisition pickup, and coiltap it, then put in a 5 way selector switch. But I was convinced out of the idea because of how nice an actual P-90 will sound compared to coil tapping a humbucker. So at the minute I'm thinking just the usual 3 way selector switch, and have each pickup independant from each other to have 3 really distinct tones. I'm open to ideas though...

I think that's a good approach, but needs a special switch (normal 3 Pos switch does 1, 1+2, 2)?
Another option would be to wire bridge and neck in the classic way, so you could use all 3 positions, and add a push pull to one of the pots that brings in the middle on full blast, you could dial out bridge/neck then with the volume. But this one is a bit tricky usability wise.

i like hunters suggestion for the wiring.
it still gives you loads of options and keeps the guitar looking as LP should. may be slightly fiddlier to adjust on the fly so it just depends how important that is to you

The guys at the store I've ordered the pickups from rang me today to say their in :). Unfortunatly I work right through until Friday, so I have to wait untill Saturday to go and leave my guitar down, then however long it takes them to install everything :(. Still really excited though !
As for the wiring, I'm gunna go down and speak to the guys in the shop, for once they're actually all very knowledgable about their guitars, and cut me a nice deal, so I'll decide then.
