Hello,
I've recently taken delivery of a Vox VT50. I used to have an AD30VT which was a great little amp, if a little fizzy on the high gain side. The new line of VT amps have 22 amp models and a better EQ section. The modelling has been improved too.
Seriously, this has got to be one of the guitar amp bargains of all time. Every amp model sounds good. The amp sounds good with both my BKP-equipped axe and my Variax. With the Variax is comes into a league of it's own due to the versatility of the guitar. I can get luscious, bell-like Fender clean tones, chimey Vox tones (as you'd expect), gritty Marshall and thumping high gain tones (much improved from the last series). There are models of channels from a Mesa Triple Rectifier, a VHT and an Engl amp, a channel from the Marshall JVM series, as well as the usual suspects (JCM800 etc). However, both channels of a Dumble OD special are modelled and they are worth the price alone. I can't compare them to the originals but they sound wonderful. There's a Trainwreck amp sim too. Very dynamic.
The other thing is the FEEL. It feels like a valve amp. It reacts really well to guitar volume changes and picking dynamics. My AD30VT was OK for this but Vox have improved this aspect a lot.
The effects sound good. I'm not a big effects user, but they all sound good. I love the tremolo mixed with a cranked AC30TB setting. Heaven.
I highly recommend this amp to anyone looking for an amp with at least a 12" speaker and costs less than £500.
They can be had for £300. Insane value.
